Frawls....you need the volts to make everything electrical under the bonnet to work nicely but you also need the earth. Your power supply is only as good as the Earth that accompanies it. So, if you have a nice stable electrical system flowing through the car then stuff like injectors, coils and igniters will perform to their max. Gains of between 2 and 5bhp have been claimed from some earthing kits.
