Valets - discount vouchers

I bought a voucher a couple of months ago, €20 for a deluxe valet worth €40, and used it today. I decided to top it up with one of their options and get the car waxed as well (+ €30).

Maybe I was expecting too much, but when I got the car back, I noticed that the inside of the wheels weren't done. I asked about it because it looks a bit lazy and I was told that the 4 wheels would have had to come off to do it. It was made sound like he'd have to take the engine out.

The second thing, which I didn't notice until I got home, was that he never went near the boot. I looked up the voucher and it says - "interior vacuumed". I just assumed that the boot would be done. I didn't think any valet was done without the boot. All he did on the inside was vacuumed the floor and clean the mats, clean the windows, and a wipe of a wet cloth to the dash (these are his words). The seats are ok so I didn't bother with the shampoo option which would have been another €20 or €30.

Anyway, was I expecting too much? I think if I had paid €70 that I would be a bit disappointed.
This is the second one of these 'half price' vouchers I've got and I think for what I got back, it was only just about worth what I had paid for the voucher, i.e. the discounted price, and definitely not the full price.

heard half the price goes to the voucher seller :cuckoo:
so dont be surprised when you get a muck service from a lad who is only getting by on a minimum wage being screwed u.s.c.
like the rest of us
as for the backs of the wheels
i would think that would be on request maybe :dontknow:
vouchers arent worth a fook these days i.m.o.
everyone is on the band wagon now so no deals :wall:
take your car to a detailer tell him what you want or else do it your self
to avoid dissapointment

the old sayying "you get what you pay for", is never wrong

no surprise to me

seems like every professional services is going tits up
Edit--
if you need a good job on your car always do it your self , better enjoyment when done and cost little to do, the more you do it the more pro you get

Takes me almost half hour to do each panel on my scooby as i,m a perfectionist , but trust me when i,m done paint work looks amazingggggg

I suppose I got carried away a bit. Ye are right though, if something looks too good to be true, then it probably is. And if you want something done right, you need to go do it yourself.

I just thought it would be handy as I don't have much spare time, which is probably obvious from the state the boot was in, and thought it would tide me over.

This was the deal: http://www.pigsback.com/pages/3/587/3235.aspx?pbq=6389,6389,VOVMD

In fairness, the wax came out ok, although he didn't clean under the handle of the boot but it's not that noticeable, just annoying. I had to smile a bit as he boasted about there not being a spec of tar on the car after he was done. There was hardly any tar on it to begin with.

I think they would have been far better off charging €50 and doing a proper job on the inside, than €20 for a mickey mouse job.

think you would be better of buying the wax/polish yourself and doing your car youself

i wont trust anyone to touch my car only myself

jez very bad they didnt clean the boot.... you would do alot better job yourself...

do what i do the woman cleans it..

you will have to get herself at it.. how you keeping

I think that is very poor service to be honest.

Yes, to be able to clean and polish wheels correctly you have to remove them but that is shocking. Every valeter/detailer has a long soft bristled brush which would remove at least 80-90% of the grime and make a huge improvement to the car.

Not hoovering the boot is just lazy, an extra 5mins is all it would take to run over the boot mat as you have the hoover out already.

Its like valeters who don't even open the doors to give the sills a quick rub down, I can't abide that at all.

All of the above would add less than 15mins to the work time and make a massive difference to the cars appearance and do wonders for the valeter's reputation. But in a time where I would have thought business' would be going the extra mile to make customers happy, most are doing the exact opposite, offering sh!t quality work and even worse customer service :icon_rolleyes:

@p1impreza I have meguiar's and autoglym as well, but it didnt suit me this time to do it myself. Just thought I'd take the handy way out.

@padraic herself like's driving it but i'm not sure she'd react well if i put the sponge in her hand! I'm not too bad, improving by the day sure. Battery is dead in the phone now but i'll give you a shout tomorrow.

@sweetcakes i felt like saying it to him that he could have used a brush or something for the wheels but i couldnt be bothered, i hadnt the energy. I didnt even look at the boot at the time. I bought a rubber mat and was looking forward to laying it on the newly vacuumed boot floor when i got home so you can imagine how p****d i was when i saw the state of it. Galway is a small place so it won't take long for word to get around about the quality of work these guys offer if this is what they think is acceptable, and I'd have to wonder what kind of outfit they are that they haven't thought of this.
