vibration in pedals and steering wheel

It's was more a knock than vibrations
I'd be looking at your wheels/ discs/ drive train for the issue your having
 
how low of speed are you getting it? i presume its an e60, they give plenty of problems that would have similar symtoms. is it a vibration through the wheel rather than a wobble?
 
Had the car up again last Saturday on a ramp checked all bushings front and back, steering column, discs, wheels, balancing. There's nothing loose under the car.

I have it booked it with the specialist I bring it to get serviced on Wednesday. Will let you know what he says.

Only other things I can think of would be mounts/bearing but I'm far from an expert when it comes to cars

Yes its a vibration through the steering wheel, pedals and you can see the passenger seat vibrate. Yeah its an e60. I am getting it at all speeds but it's at its worse when cruising around 100kms

Did you put a dial gauge on the discs?
If not you're wasting your time unfortunately.

Also did you check the center carrier bearing on the prop shaft?
 
Yes discs were checked with the dial. Dont think that bearing was checked. Its in good hands next week and I will get a full health check too when I'm at it. See if there's any wear and tear anywhere else that could lead to future problems
 
Had the car down with the specialist I use last Wednesday-Friday.

Rang me Thursday night saying he checked absolutely everything but all was perfect. The last thing he could think of was to try his original 18'' mv2 wheels off his 535.

Fitted them and the car was perfect. No movement from pedals or steering wheel.

My spiders at the start didn't cause any vibrations but when they got damaged they did. The new 19" csl wheels that are on it now are the problem.

Took them off, swapped over spacers. Made no difference. There is no room for a spigot ring or insulating tape around the hub. Only reason the spacer is on is that if original set up would cause the front wheels to rub against the car on full lock.

Could the problem be that the offset of the front wheels doesn't suit the car as the rear wheels are perfect.

Does anyone know of any 18" mv2 wheels around the place or any other ideas what could causing it
 
Did you buy the wheels new
If so youve been supplied the wrong wheels for the car
so id be going back with them and see if they will do anything for you even if only replacement ones at cost
at least you know what it is
 
Bite the bullet and a get a set of genuine wheels that are right for the car and return those ones that you've bought.
 
Yes wheels were bought brand new. I am trying to source a set of mv2's for the car.

I was on to richie in proparts already but have to take time off work to go down. Will get down next week.

I know 2 people which have got these wheels from him on e60 5 series and never had a problem with them
 
Did you get the spacers off pro parts
I'd change them before the wheels.
Was out there a few weeks ago looking at some spacers and they didn't look great the lad there talked me out of buying them and said try get a set of motorsport spacers ....I never heard of motorsport spacers he said they are twice the price....:dontknow:
 
Spacers will be changed first when up with them id say. Quality of spacers were never mentioned to me when fitting them and I had no previous experience with them

Bin the cheap Chinese shite spacers and bolt the wheels straight to the hubs , job done [emoji106]????
 
I thought the wheels were rubbing without the spacers ?
If not I'd do what baz said

A lot of the bmw lads are using Turner motorsport spacers seem to be very good but not cheap

If they are buy decent ones . Simple as that , sorry to be so abrupt but you're driving a serious car and cheap crap has no place on it.
I know someone that used the exact spacers on track and a wheel came off the car. Not that you'd get the loads on them on the road but you can you see where I'm coming from ?

If the wheels are for a bmw why are they in an incorrect offset?
