i dont know if i want to be sick or not bad news is i dont have the cert for when the car was imported into the country and they want to charge me for that. full cost at the minute is €2836 if i can get a sad that states import was paid by the people that imported it into belfast its €1576 and only €76 over my budget i have a name and number and a letter that was being used to import the car hopefully this garage in cookstown and the person will get back to me with good news asap

fingers crossed for you

If you cant get that paper work sorted no harm in trying to play hard ball, arrive in without the car and say you cant track down the garage in question, you are now able to pay the 2836 as its driving the price on car way beyond its value and that you will pay the vrt of 1576 if they want it if not you will sell the car to a breaker and they will be 1576 revenue less

I have all the paper work and a sighened sheet and it's all adding up to one main dealer in cookstown I phoned and sent text message and a email asking for the papers that were got when the car was imported into Belfast port I said I had the car just over a month and the vrt charged me over 200 extra :( the lad that is dealing with the vrt said he going to shaft me for every day now till I pay up the money.

Fuk That id sell it off..
Maybe i have it wrong but from what i read you are looking at paying 2500 vrt For a 00 sti??
Sure they only getting 3 to 4k to buy on Irish reg.

Id be very suprised if your man in Cookstown has any paperwork at this stage

They can't charge you for every day lad don't mind that shite I told them I refused to pay that for the bmw an after two week they sent out a letter asking what my intentions were with the car an to ring the number bellow I phoned told them I was going to either burn the car or brake it for parts they said they didn care but I couldn sell the car in the republic of Ireland with out informing them an if I didn't it would end in result of a fine so it's money money for them bloody clowns should have been done away with years ago like it was meant to be

They need SAD number to prove vat and customs was paid in a eu country think it is.

This is what they need . Would I be able to deal direct with HM customs and excise I have a customs declaration number and a vat registration number? And I know the port was Belfast and a date of customs declaration date.

Vrt update all is good the money for vat was paid and I am getting a letter faxed soon. Now next question I said I got the car 2 months ago and it's putting the price up by 200 euro should I say I gave the wrong date and say I got it less than a month ago ? I was mixed up with the birth of our son and gave his date of birth for when I got the car. Or am I better off leave it and pay the 1570 euro?

VRT is an illegal tax. Don't pay it. Send them a letter asking to outline your legal obligation to pay VRT and they have 14 working days to state such. Put in the letter that no reply within 14 days will be considered non-rebuttle and will be indication that you have no legal obligation to pay VRT.

You then send another letter with an offer of what you think is fair to get some ID for the car and outline how much more they'll make over installments of something called motortax amd it would be in their financial interest to accept your offer.

:multijump:

Tell them you went for a spin up north and down again yesterday - therefore the car is only in ROI for 24 hours at this point. They WONT argue that, as the tax is illegal to start with.

Whether you owned the car for a month or two already is irrelevant to them if it wasn't actually in the country for that duration - no harm in a white lie.

:undecided: vrt update
No joy they won't accept the paper work I got today they are still after the (sad) form for the import of the car I must have talking to everyone now at this stage and still waiting on a email. The garage I got the car are being very helpful they don't have the sad form.

Get the name of the person you are dealing with in the VRT office and only talk to them or else you will have to explain the whole saga everytime and they will all say something different, that will only confuse the situation worse. :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

I can't get the (SAD) paperwork because the car is in the country over 4 yrs :( I am running out ideas now. And I am going to the same lad over the vrt in Tullamore I was told I should have gone some where else is it to late now to go and see will they accept all the paperwork I have to date.
