question for all the vw heads out there 2011 2.0 diesel 4 motion passat do they give many problems
 
Rare enough machine, is it a swimmer?
Decent enough to be fair, earlier model was a ball of sh1te!
Manual or DSG?

You need to check all the usual stuff on them and have a look under it.
I would also scan it with a diag computer before buying.
Make sure all campaigns are done too.

Looks lovely and it's highline spec too.
Proper 2.0 engine not the 1.6 shite box!

I'd buy it if it were me once it all checked out ok.
 
4wd system doesn't give trouble in them once serviced properly.
Depending on system some have no oil change intervals.

Anyway I wouldn't put second hand parts into any car, especially a car worth 15k.

I'd be more worried about turbo,clutch and flywheel in one of them :thumbsup:
 
no graham rang him this morning to say i wouldnt be able to make it today and would tomorrow evening would that suit . clutch or flywheel was never changed so it could be on borrowed time and maybe not as will know tomorrow evening .
was off quading all day not long home and in bits :zzzz: but some crack
 
Very good joe.you will be sore in the morning after quads.

Clutch not been done may mean it was driven easy or just that he's pure lucky!
Make sure it feels ok and there is no loud noises on idle or driving.
Not as bad in the new machines to be fair and some have solid flywheels, different system to older models.
 
so had a look t the passat this evening. very nice car well minded irish car from new drives great to be fair waiting on a trade in price now so wil know more in the morning :mooner: will see how it goes
 
I thought there was a 1.9 and 2ltr version aswell and the 1.9 was the better engine??
I'm not sure on it but I thought a mechanic told me this a while back
 
mate of mine had a 2 litre tdi golf that broke his heart . turbo went twice and clutch let go in the middle of the 2 turbos . lucky it was a good guarantee from main dealer
 
this is starting to sound like the subaru 2.5 engine :icon_grin: graham knows best as he knows whats giving bother the most as he's working on them all the time

Thank god, I'm not going mad :) someone else heard the same. :)

I would be a bit nervous about the 4wd thing aswell, I know it's been said above that with that price car you wouldn't put 2nd hand parts in it... But in the real world if the gear box died or diff, who wants to go to Vw and hand over a few grand, be nice to be able to get 2nd hand parts if you needed...

It's not a performance car, it cant pull massive weight behind it, we don't have bad bad winters so I don't really see the point in 4wd... Just more needless stuff to go wrong IMO
