Want to upgrade bulbs from standard.

Right lads. With the evenings beginning to cut up already I want to change to better bulbs in the headlights
have any of you guys upgraded to stronger bulbs and if so did it do any damage , eg melting the internals of the headlamps with the higher temps.

any experience good or bad .

Think the classic's had a prob with bigger bulbs melting wires and stuff
I got a whiter bulb for mine and it made a he'll of a difference
 
I got ones about €28 a pair, lasted only a few months, got another set, €43 a pair, didnt last much longer.
I moved onto HIDs, they lasted 2 weeks but i think there was a fault with that set because the replacement set work fine now and I have them in 6 months + now without any problems.
I heard that the high watt bulbs dont last as long as regular ones because they can't dissipate the heat quick enough. Don't know how true that is though. I just know they didnt last in my car.
 
Yes the hids are excellent with a factory look (6000k bulbs)but it takes a bit of getting used to halogens on main beam.
 
just wondering if any of the blobeye owners have put in hids for both dips and main beams.

I have a set of high beam only hid's sittin in the car there not being used....
they are H4's
I bought them in error a while back and having a classic they are no use to me!!!!
