As far as I know japaneese fuel only switched to 100 ron in 1998 so in theory you should be alright by just running maxol e5..welcome along

Dagnut i think it may have been 96 it changed so realy only version 1 and 2 may get away with it.
 
Welcome along lad..have a 97 Type R myself and use Maxol E5 as am waiting to get

her simtek mapped and shes been running grand!!
