What a bunch of conmen

Petrolheads
Well lads I was up in Dublin on Monday ,

trying to buy a Ford Galaxy .............I had been in contact with four different
garages before I travelled up , all had very good prices , all were willing to do a deal
and all offered at least 3mths warranty ............the cars were at least a €1,000 cheaper in Dublin
...........................feck sake I should of known better :wall: :wall:

First car , engine was warm , it had 168k on the clock and not 86k as had been stated
and without going through all the little things , the auto gear box was fooked , took her for a spin ,
all she had was 1st & reverse , :dontknow: :dontknow:....................I drove all the way from Cork for this sh*t,
his excuse: he had never driven it and he was sure with a new oil filter and oil change she'd be perfect ........ I wished him all the best with his magic oil change .

Next car needed timing belt , two shocks , bushings , dual mass clutch (not cheap) and yet again there was an
extra 90k on the clock ...............it would be nearly cheaper to buy a new one

third garage .............was closed even though I rung on Saturday to let him know what time I was calling
( I suppose there could of been a genuine reason )

and the forth pri*k , when I rang to say im just across town be with you in 40mins , he stated that the car wasn't ready,
that his mechanic was on holidays .............and get this, the car wouldn't be ready for at least two weeks . When I questioned
him on it ( he had stated on Saturday and previously the car was ready to go ) he just hung up .

So on the way home, we called into a certain Car Motor factors ( not advertsing here or dose anything Scooby ) to pick up
a roll cage . when we arrived there was a lad spending a lot of €€€€'s , so we had to wait and couldn't help but listen in  ............... he was told and I quote , he would have to fit a normal back box for the NCT , no mention of cats , center section etc......and he would be down at least 100bhp.

The whole day was like an episode from "Only fools & Horses" ......I was never so happy to see a sign post for
CORK :beerbang:

Sounds about right nial. Very hard to find a good second hand well looked after car now never mind a 7 seater    :discomonkey: :discomonkey: theres a 07 C one in a certain garage in kilkenny stear clear aswell it had a drivers side a some point and the steering pump is on the way out but apart from that its mint :icon_biggrin: .

Pain in the hole after driving up . Do yourself a favor set yourself a 60klm limit and only view cars in it otherwise you.ll be drove mad

:multijump: i bought one down here , I payed about €400 more than
I would of liked but with a full service history , timing belt and water pump done
and few other bit's done , I was happy ...........2003 with 86K on the clock .

Thats desperate carry on, I wonder how these lads are in business at all. At least your sorted now.

I'd the exact same wasted trip probelm when trying to find a wagon a few years back... and a forester for the ol man too on a seperate occasion!!

But it was two cute hoor langers that f**ked me round and lied through their teeth on the phone prior!

What goes around comes around!! :icon_nana:

Joking aside... glad you got sorted int he end Niall! Very frustrating at times trying to buy a car! :angry1:

The most shocking part of that story Niall is the bit about seeing the sign for Cork..

Now if it was the "you are now leaving Cork sign" it wouldnt have been so bad. :p

:lolpoint:

Bad luck Niall can be frustrating alright, in fairness it happens all over the country...... some chancers out there

No it only happens in DOOOOOOOOBLIN :icon_nana: :icon_nana:

Feck sake , I bet ya...... once the greedy b&$*&^£" heard my sexy CORK accent
they though all their birthdays had come together :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

Bad luck Niall, but as said above its happening all the time.

My mate is looking for a blob wrx, he drove down to Wexford last Sunday to view and the c*nt never turned up after speaking to him the night before. When he told me I said " sure that's an omen not to buy it" he done a hpi check on it and it turns out that it has finance left on it up the north were it came from, it's only down on the log book as a 2.0 not wrx and it was written off in 2007.

I hope that karma comes his way.

garage's seam to be getting worse and more blatant but its probley more to do with very few people changing there cars and lack of good cars .

you hit the nail on the head there joe money grabbing cunts ,there are not all but alot of scumbag dealers in ireland and thats why any car i buy for myself or anyone else i go uk there might still be scumbags there too but alot less of them compared to here and alot more history on the cars . the biggest issue in ireland at the minute is lads buying high mileage english cars for fu*k all as the english price thier cars properly ,then they bring them here clock them and sell them for what seems to be a bargain to an unsuspecting person who has nothing only grief with it afterwards what everyone needs to know goin to look at a diesel car is that they have a working life of 100,000 miles or 160,000 kms at that stage most will need major over haul like flywheels, turbos, injectors etc all big money jobs that people dont expect. what i always tell people to do is buy the lowest mileage car with good history that they can afford and not just a number plate ,sorry you were fucked about niall but unfortunately its becoming very comin in this country

I never buy from garages. Iv had 30+ cars now, and the 2 that came from garages were lemons.
1st one was a galant that had 100,000km taken off the clock, and the second one was an impreza
That was sold as an Irish car, but had a jap engine in it, that detonated itself to pieces within 3 months.
Privates the way to go, and a lot more negotiation can be had too.
