What did you do to your car today?

mine is going off for the year , taxed to september and then will be off the road for the year in a last ditch attempt to pay for a wedding in september next year ,

NCT tomorrow.

Connected battery, washed car, filled washer bottle... so far so good.

Then decided to change wheels for winters as new winter tyres and the front summers are very marginal and just not worth the hassle of getting a fail on it.
... and this is where the aggro started:

-> could I find my 19 deep socket for wheels after moving house - NOPE!
Do have a cross wrench with a 19 on it so could loosen, but wouldn't be able to torque right (ah it will do, but still annoying me).

-> Stupid winter wheels have stupid chromed valve caps... which oxidized and were ceased solid. Eventually two of the caps came off and the other two are banjaxed... 1 the brass insert pulled out of the rubber tube and the other one the brass insert wrung off. Aarggghhh...:new_cussing:

NOTE TO SELF AND ALL: grease or WD40 valve caps if anything other than plastic as is a complete pain in the XXX if they cease. :thumb:

So... tomorrow before test need to get two new valves put into rims (cheaper than buying two new 235/45/17s to replace the worn summer tyres)... and get a set of window wipers as rubber tearing on one and other not far behind. After that send the missus in for test and hope she remembers how to smile at a man in an overall. :biggrinbounce2:

Just got my new rear spoiler extension from the states something a little different
Going to be painted black to match wheels and lip kit this evening

got the automatic headlamp levelling sensor sorted out , not the easiest thing to get spot on first time but makes me an awful lot happier not having the warning light shining on the dash .

Failed the NCT on Tue... not happy.

There was an imbalance on the front axle of 7% over -> reckon due to different tyre pressures as was about .3 bar in the difference between L and R... my own fault really as should have made sure they were equal regardless of the fact they are supposed to test it in the centre and make them equal. Case of too many things on at the moment to check the details before letting the missus go in with it.

Also over on emissions -> car was only at 83 degrees when tested. Had been sitting outside for a while and tester put it straight on the machine. Didn't rev it for the 3 minutes that the manual says it should be rev'd for if it doesn't pass 1st time. The missus went in with the car for me so she drove it real easy going in and probably seldom was in boost on the way over and that was the first drive over 3km in close to 10 months. Will give her a good spin and get it on an emissions tester locally to see what the real values are after that.

Total pain though...

bought a bung for thew kakimoto , the daily cabin drone on twinscroll is too much at the minute . if this does not satisfy , a new backbox will be required .
