What did you do to your car today?

Tom your a mad ****

Your going to be chasing impossible dreams looking for that bhp

Get yourself a brz from Litchfield that is supercharged and you'll have a savage one of a kind car in Ireland that will still be only 700 to tax, great fun to drive to

Subaru need to partner up with Toyota get there hybrid Tec into next Sti to both make it cleaner and boost the performance.

I'd say it's possible considering the tie in between the Brz and Gt86

Not going for a saloon now man the tax is even more on the 2.0 than on the 2.5 so fcuk that I'm just going to get my hatch up to 550/600 bhp and stance it out ta fcuk man I couldn't justify giving them bastards €2480 euro a year i give them €1490 for the q7 and €1080 for the sti at the muinet not including then what I give them for the works jeeps the trucks can only drive one at a time and not handing over crazy money for the sake of it I would do a lot every year with my own car for that money

What about the Hackney route

Tom, if you get that hatch up to 500+ bhp, then "stance it" surely all the money you spent getting that power is wasted as its unusable in a stanced car?
Just do one or the other, power or stance.
I vote power!!! Your hatch is lovely as is!

The thing is completely ruined by the emissions based system after 2008, know a guy that was looking for an Evo, and same as Toms story, over 2k to tax,
I was looking at buying an E92 M3 at start of the year and the same again €2350 per year or €663 every 3 months!! Madness.. So like Tom I wasn't long knocking that on the head.

Whatever direction you want to take your car, go for it. Personally I think your power would be wasted if you stance. Stance works in the States and Japan because of the roads but think about how much your car would take beating from our roads.

Cheers guys deffo going for booth ta hell with it if can't get my saloon I am going to go the full hog on The hatch and maybe pick up a nice Colm McRae edition Classic or something like that and have it 1000% original anyone that knows me knows I have to be doing up something looking at a mark 1 escort here at the muinet as well to do a full build on and fit an sti engine and running gear into as well for something to do over the winter the out side will look 100% original bubble arched 15" revolutions on her white car white wheels white cage suttle but with a serious engine and running gear only young once and you won't see a hearse with a draw bar as you can't bring it with you so make the best of it there is enough sh*t going on in the world

It's absolutely madness ken any wonder the car culture in ireland is on its knees

wagon dec

Nope it's no wonder at all, the Government don't want you to have something nice without punishing you for it, we are all kept in our place..

Government couldn't give less of a shite about the car culture minority who don't wanna pay over 2k tax on a car. Until that system is changed, normal joe soaps will not be driving these type of cars, that will push up prices of <08 cars also. Hopefully some day it changes but I don't see it, same as the VRT thing, it's an illegal tax, generates more revenue than the fine.

A lot of pressure from EU to abandon the VRT...
Only three countries in the EU who charge it... Netherlands, Denmark and Ireland.

The Netherlands announced in May that they are phasing it out over the coming years.
From 2017 till 2020 they will reduce their VRT by 1/3 per year from the current rates until it is gone.
They have to phase it like that to protect companies with a lot of cars on the books like leasing companies, rental companies, dealerships and those with substantial fleets. It's going all the same though...

This will increase pressure on DK and IE to do the same before too long.
