What did you do to your car today?

@ Rob charles "keeaden" ran a a4 avant 3.0 tdi quattro for the last few years he'd be able to give some hints on ownership think he was very happy with it ????

Yep - was very happy with her!

Good luck Robbie - you won't be disappointed.

Mine was a 2007 233bhp / 450Nm version (A4 Avant Quattro Automatic).
Can be chipped between 275-290 Bhp with 560-640Nm depending on different companies (direct off the shelf maps).
Never bother doing this with mine as not sure how well the auto box would hold up to a big torque increase and car was powerful enough. If I had a manual one I wouldn't mind seeing what 290bhp/640Nm is like in an A4 Quattro :icon_twisted:

Avg consumption about 7.4L/100km - best on long run about 6.4L/100km - and worst on a serious run across the hills... 10.8L/100km.
Very smooth and indeed very easy to get into license losing territory without noticing as no fall off, no noise, solid as a rock etc.

Found the handling not great for the roads I usually travel (read bad road surfaces). I got a set of light weight forged Team Dynamics made in 17" to increase the tyre wall height... I fitted Bilstein B6 shocks with the S-line springs (Eichbach springs lowered the car too much and regularly bottomed out so fitted the S-line springs again), also fitted Meyle HD control arms... made a world of difference - better comfort, better handling and less issues with burst tyres / rims. Still nose heavy though with the 3L V6 diesel lump up there... Very reliable motor Rob and only thing that gave me some grief was the seatbelt sensor on the driver side - and that is in almost 4 years of ownership and about 90k kms.

Thanks Charles, I'm delighted with it so far. It really ticks all the boxes for what I was after. The gearbox was recently rebuilt so should be good for a long time yet, and the map should be fine on it as long as you're not hockeying it away from the lights all the time. The abs unit was recently returned too so that's another massive saving.

They are not exactly misers on juice but it was easily doing mid 40's on the M50 yesterday so I'm happy enough with that. When taking it out, it'll usually be for longish drives with the family.

Drove it plenty today too and its just so smooth and comfortable to be in, really happy I bought it to be honest.

To a car nothing, but took few snaps of it. Looks Nice imho.
Need to get good clean, detar and wax.

looks great
change the front reg plate
& fix fog lamp cover
heat gun might reshape it at a guess
[/quote]new reg is on Its way. Back one is frameless now.
I got heat fun from work other day and when I started it, it blow on me :) was not meant to be then. Guys are getting new one so will use it then :)

Got new STI lip fitted today, a few holes needed to be drilled so i thought it would be better to do that before the new bumper gets painted. Finishes off the front end nicely

New Lip kit for the hatch reddy to go for paint and getting the wheels powder coated few little subtle touches now before I put her back on the road for the good weather
Also fitted a new hks daub and carbon alternator cover

Finally found the right bracket at the 3rd attempt for fitting the rear Brembos. Had been assured on the last set I bought from a company in the UK that they would fit a Legacy with a small bit of modding but they came nowhere close to fitting. Apparently the Rev D models setup at the rear is slightly different to the Rev A-C and is more like Dans model above. These arrived yesterday so made a start on getting everything fitted today.

Removed part of the dust shield to make sure there was enough clearance right the way round. Not shown is the oversized hand brake shoes and I also put a new spring set on the shoes. Small bit of grinding required to allow the top bolt to come through to the caliper.

Disc and caliper fitted.

Just waiting now on new pads to arrive and I'll get them fitted over the weekend. Also want to flush the fluid while I'm at it. The underside of the car needs a good clean so I'll get that done while I'm fitting the new anti roll bar. :subaru:

Cheers lads. The matte black wheel really suits the car.

Looking forward now to getting the car back on the road.

Got my wheels powder coated and re fitted to the car also
Got my side skirt extensions mirror sarounds rear defuser and centre of the front bumper and the grill sprayed high gloss black
