What did you do to your car today?

Looks like an hour or 2 work tops don?t be making s big deal about it  it done now you can move on :icon_biggrin: . Always a pain to do that much stripping of parts for something so simple nice job

Shup and leave me alone Joe.
I?m confident that there was a French or German man in Subaru Japan at the time and his one and only job was to design the top glove box. It?s the only explanation I can think of.

So Saturday was kind of the first phase, I?m onto the second phase of cleaning the engine bay... 3rd phase will be engine out for an overhaul of Timing belt and gear, new oil pump, front and rear crank seals, new clutch kit, new plugs, new rocker gasket kits, possibly all new ex manifold/ up pipe gaskets, and oil separator cover will be swapped to metal if it?s still plastic.
So today I used auto smart G101 to give engine and bay a clean. I took off the insulation aswell as it was shitty looking, will get new one. When engine is out I will give the engine bay a good clean by hand, for now 90% of the heavier dirt is gone and it?s a bit nicer and cleaner to work on....
New winter project commenced.

Nice work Ken, how'd you get on with the engine bay, was it a spray and then agitate it or how does it work, looks like it done a treat ????????

I got my last under bonnet Matt from the main dealer. Around ?100 with new clips. Expensive I know :(

You buy the G101 in a 5 litre can, around ?25..
You can use it for everything, mix at 10:1 to clean interiors, mop the floors etc lol, or 5:1 for the likes of engine bay, I used a spray bottle and a paint brush, a lot will come off with the brush also. Rinse it off then with water, I did it twice.

I had no oil or grease, just the road grime from Japan.

Wee run to get petrol, before it's off the road this week.

Replaced the rubber fuel lines under the intake manifold and put a silicone turbo intake pipe on over the weekend. Tough job but happy I did it myself. Next step is engine bay detailing.

So come on what she bang out and any noticeable change in driving or did ap map it before jayo
AP mapped it previously. The last map supposedly was at 310bhp on low boost and 331bhp on high boost. With 360ft/lbs torque.

It never really felt like 310bhp on low boost. I never ran it on high boost until today because I had few bits to sort out like exhaust etc.

Low boost at .9 bar rolled out at 279bhp,so yeah I was a little disappointed after being told/thinking it was 310bhp.(the car still felt fast from day one) he set the map so it should be super safe with cat in for nct and pass with ease.there was previous issues with lambda.

Now the fun part HIGH BOOST. Aonghus loaded in the octane booster and refilled the petrol. Ran it a couple of times and there was a problem, some of the vac lines came off/split (he had advised changing them after today when he first opened bonnet)
So with the vac lines replaced he went at it again .
The results
345.8bhp and 360ft/lbs torque !

That's a good increase from 331bhp that it was previously mapped at.

Brought it for a road test and it's a completely different car!it feels FAST

The car seems to run out of power at 5700rpm which is low for the turbo (td05 20g ) hes not sure if it's the turbo, up pipe or something in the engine. I'll worry about it another day

On the way home there was a noise in car,not really sure what it is yet.
Possibly gearbox/ diff related.
I'll get one of the lads to check it out
(I don't think it has anything to do with mapping, just unfortunate it happened today)

I'm really happy with the figures from today as ap performances dyno is one of the tougher ones

 Good man Jayo nice figures If it?s nice to drive and feels quick. Don?t get caught up in numbers  Drivability it?s way more important as numbers are only part of it  enjoy it Now

Nice figures but as above only part of the equation

Well done smashing car minter and a real head Turner [emoji122][emoji122]

That?s the job super car great to have it way you want it cats in place no messing around come nct. It was quick before from the few runs and outings. Poor star will be bricking it now [emoji16][emoji16] good job though it can be an antagonizing day waiting to come off the rollers

Cheers lads, not too worried about the numbers. It pulls like a train,no lag. Night and day difference in high and low boost.
Seems to be handier on juice too, which is always a plus!
