What intervals ye all servicing at?

Well lads,

Just a general question, probably done to death already sorry if it's covered.

I service my STI every 5k km's with genuine oil filter and motul 300v oil, plugs and air filters get done at the 8-10km mark usually but I'm changing everything out now as I've just hit 5k in it since I got it, changed the oil and filter when I got it so I'll be doing the lot now

So what intervals do ye all service at? Seen a post recently about every 10km which got me thinking....

plugs every 8000-10000kms? Thats a bit overkill! inspect every 30k swap every 60k i think it is! If yours uses the long life iridiums that is

I do oil every 6-7k and filter and clean airfilter every 10k

Well generally speaking that's what I change them at usually in normal applications! I haven't changed mine yet as they weren't due so yes on a long life plug that's excessive alright ???? never mind expensive haha

I change oil and filter every 6k kms and also immediately after a trackday regardless if it's due plugs every 20-25k

If I could ask a somewhat related question..........what do ye do with the waste oil?
It's building up a bit on me now, I have a couple of full 25 litre drums.

Thanks Dan. I must try them, I had thought they only did household appliances and that.

Use to change oil and filter every 5k kms.

As Dan said I would check plugs before just changing them. Usually every 10k kms id check them

Obviously depends on state of tune, kind of journeys and use, what quality oil used etc....

... Mine is stage a one tune EJ257, and daily 85 miles round trip... and serviced oil and filter every 8k miles with genuine filter and Fuchs Silkolene Race Pro 5W40 ester synth. Oil would never be allowed to go "black and thick" as that would lead to contaminants build up inside the engine. Plugs change at 24k miles (on 3rd service basically)... air filter is a K&N panel, so just clean with air hose every service and every 2nd service full wet clean with re-oil.

If I was doing small journeys then would service max 6k miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.

If I was doing track days I would service much sooner, but not every trackday - maybe every 2nd or 3rd depending on external temps and how intensive the runs were.

That's just me... need to look at your own mix of tune, journey length and driving style...
