What paint for inlet manifold

I will need to replace a turbo inlet pipe soon, and to do so, the entire manifold has to go off
so I've been thinking, once I have it out, why not to restore it a bit and paint it red as it had obviously flaked out.

I know there is lots of work involved to take it out. Did anyone do it here before?

I've been reading some threads on scoobynet etc and they're recommending the VHT Red paint . Where can I get one in Ireland? :ponder2:

Get it powdercoated, perfect finish and will last a lifetime.

Only thing about the powder coating is that it will reduce the diameter of holes by about 2mm overall, OK you say! Ill drill it out! Do that and it will start flaking.
Just speaking from experience, make sure your powder coater plugs the holes sufficiently.

reduce hole size by 2mm, sorry but not a chance. I coated my manifold 3 times and would be lucky if it reduced it down by 1mm. Powder does not go into small holes in large quantity`s the same as spraying with wet paint wouldnt without paint runs everywhere.
I dont know who done your powder painting but mine was factory grade and you would struggle to cut it of with a knife.

Only seeing this now - Well now we use a zinc rich primer and slam on the powder paint which is electro-statically applied - With this method there is easily a 2mm build up around and in holes regardless of what you say mate.

Now you are probably talking abouot heating up the part till its cherry red and dipping them in the powder mixture. This is probably giving a thinner coat as per your description. Just out of interest why did you have to coat your mani 3 times if the protection was so good you couldnt take it off with a knife.....? Sounds like that may be where your problem is.....mate.

VHT wrinkle paint from Frosts is the stuff used by other lads... not quite the right shade... but near enough!
