Lads wondering what size tires should I pick on my next change?

225/45/17 that are already on the car or 215/45/17?

Would there be much difference in grip levels or simply a price thing?

:xmas_cheers:

if there they the same manufacturer the 225's would be better they have a wider thread so more rubber on the road means better grip

Agreed!
The wider tyre, would also have bigger sidewalls and fill the arches better!
Easy choice!

Yea I agree that the bigger the footprint of the tyre the more rubber is in contact with the road, like a slick tyre, but would there realy be much of a difference in a 225 and a 215 road tyre?

As above, 225 will rub with people in the back or if you hit a big enough bump...

Stephen.

Cool lads thanks

I am getting better prices on the 225's anyway.

Jaysus!
It's a new age!
235/40/18 is standard one the s204,
So go 235/45/17s on yours, fill those big arches better! New age have huge arches that you can fit 255 wide tyres under with the proper offset,
If someone could check there behind the tyre on the rear to see how much clearance there is between the tyre and the rear strut at the top,
If there is enough room for your thumb between the tyre and the strut, the you'll have plenty of room for the bigger tyres
