Italian all the way... no question about it! DB9 is a big heavy bucket that just sounds good!

Agreed-DB9 is a GT car-no fun on track-911s are little more than glorified beetles,Go for the Gallardo and either the 360 or the caterham.

You should start a pole,
I think you'll find the offset driving possition weird in the 911, the drivers side wheel arch protrudes alot into your foot well, and unless it a turbo, it simply isn't that much faster than your scooby
the 360 isn't like the lambo, she was designed and built for the track!

???? because Clarkson said so? You ever driven a 911? what a load of bollox

never driven one , but would tend to agree with dagnut , dependant on the model

Jaysus Dave, want a hug

I generally disagree with every clarkson statement! But on this occasion I have to agree!
Porsche have been very ademant about keeping the Rear engined thyme with the 911 even thought mid engined is recognised as the way to go,
Eg, the Caymen (mid engined) will not be offered with a LSD because if it had, it would out run the 911 around the Ring according to Whalter Rohle (test driver and Group B legand)
So on that basis, I had a bit of a disrespect for the 911, due to the Fashion over function approach!
Althought the twin turbos and AWD version of the 911 turbo is a different kettle of fish!!

Have to agree with Dave... load of ******!

I've driven a 99 Carrera 2 which has to be one of my all time favourite cars... savage performance and an all round incredible car to drive.... drove 02 GT3 up Powesrcourt gardens driveway.... unreal... couldn't get to grips with power in such a short distrance.... but savage power & acceleration that left you gobsmacked.... and finally drove an 1986 SC which was no where near performance to newer models but still great fun... driving position was awful in older model though!

I love 911's so much i nearly bought one before my 98 555 gt Scoob.... looked into a 1975 californian import... sense prevailed though! I'd still love one and hope someday to find a nice 993 Turbo!

I'm just sick of people rehashing Clarkson statements, no offence to B4 soon, but driving wise its a far removed from a beetle as you could get, its akin to saying an Impreza STi is just a glorified Leone.
And its not all about out right pace...fashion over function..the function of the rear engine is to retain the rear seats...plus 40 years of development they've pretty sown the handling up... probably a bit sensitive as I'd love to own a 911..but basically it is a load of boll0x to compare a 911 to a beetle

Fair points!!
I drove a Cerrera 4S and after that, I regretted driving it, It was a never meet your hero's moment!!
I do and always have liked them, but I like the Caymen more now!! role on the turbo model,
Dan
