Rite lads was on my way home yesterday went through a deep enough flood on the road had no choice but to go through was rite on my way home about half way home started hearing a knocking from the engine just kept getting louder and louder so basiclly something serious is wrong.. thinking about selling the car off cheap maybe 4k or sumthing with the knocking engine or breaking it for parts its a 99 Sti with a decent spec very clean car would it be worth my time breaking it?.

Get a mechanic to check it out first, at least you will know if there is a serious problem. it could be something not so serious:dontknow:

Uncles gona have a proper look at it for me he's a mechanic but he said just from hearing it such a loud knocking deffinately something serious gone.

Well frank if it's knocking i suppose it's dropped a valve or big end or something but
hitting a puddle (flood) wouldn't cause that ????.............or at least i can't see how :dontknow:

Fingers crossed it's not too serious , but i'd fix her and sell her .

Can't see you getting much these days selling a scooby with possible engine fault

Niall.

If shes sucked up water its likely youve bent a con-rod-water doesnt compress so the pressure will do it. If thats the case its a rebuild unfortunately-is it a two or 4 door?

Pretty sure its a white type r Sean....

Fingers crossed its not a serious problem but as above it may have sucked water up through the air inlet and bent a con rod or bent valves. If this is the case its a rebuild. I hit a flood last year in a diesel and half way through the car drowned after suckin up a load of water. Had to pull it apart and found a single con rod bent. Hope its not bad.

Its a silver 4 door lads got rid of the white type r awhile ago.. Hard to kno what to do ona get it fully checked out i think and go from there.. Thanks for the replys
