Im on holidays at the end of the month and am thinking bout trying to sell my legacy and buying a standard Wrx or an irish or uk spec impreza turbo
problem is funds are not great at the moment so whatever i could get for my leggy is all il have to buy the impreza my issue is i have the car bout 4 years
and have put alot into it basicaly its caused me hardly any problems just stupid things in the last two years just got new clutch(2 months ago)and starter is noisy at the moment.
I want to start doing track days etc and i have wanted an impreza from day one
I know the prices are crap at the moment so i have to be realistic but will i regret it?
I dont know what to do any advice should i keep it/sell it?

Billy

keep it and buy a cheap honda for the track if it was me.

but if you always wanted a impreza you could trade in for one or try sell yours on first but the market is crap at the mo and it could take months.

also if your going to do track days an impreza will be nice and quick but it will need some modding to make reliably safe for the track

Exactly what he said!!
Honda or RWD Nissan! plenty of cheap little motors around

Sorry lads meant to say just isdc track days etc it will be my daily driver
I know it could take ages to sell so weighing up all the options
cheers

Hi Billy. The Leggy is fine for the trackday. For me it's all about getting the most out of my car.Don't care if it's not the fastest your only competing with yourself.Unless your up for a friendly dice with someone else you come across on track(i mean the follow, chase kind of dice at a safe distance, not the door to door kind ).As you said yourself, when i met you, that it has been serviced etc and it's reliable. So stick with it,but keep a look out for something nice also and change it when circumstances allow.

If it was a possibility.....
I would keep the current car and find a cheap alternative for throwing onto the track when you feel like it....

Thanks all maybe I should stop looking at all the Subaru
for sale and save a few euro and buy somthing then
I think il hang on a few months and see what happens

No harm in tracking the legacy, save up for bits and pieces you can swop onto the car for the track day i.e track wheels/tires, track brake pads, stiffer Anti roll bar or invest in an adjustable one. That way when the da :thumbsup:y comes you just put your bits on, tighten up the ARB and away you go.

Best of luck with whatever way you go.

The other thing to consider if the money is tight is the insurance on the impreza (for me anyway) was gona be 2k vs 800 for a legacy B4.

So it's worth taking that into consideration.

if your only going to do one or two track days a year, dont bother buying anything, your leggy will be grand and quick enough aswell, just upgrade the brakes and youl have a great time, you can have great crack on track even with a slow car but it can be very furstating if you get brake fade after only a few laps which will ruin your confidence in the car and ruin your day

This is the reason i asked you all thanks everybody im paying 1020 for my insurance even though they will quote me less for a B4 so insurance prob would go up alright
i think just new pads a brake fluid change and new tyres on the back would prob do the job i think the rear anti roll bar will have to be changed rolls a fair bit when pushed round the twisty bits
im gone pay for the track day monday then il have to get stuck in and sort it.

Thanks again everybody

100% agree!
I'd dial in some front negative camber as well!

You have a beautiful legacy there but you said you always wanted an impreza and with the likes of the Version 6 WRXs there in the for sale section the time has never been better for buying one. The Legacy will sell quicker the the imprezas in the current market so price it right and buy an Impreza. Thats what I think in anyway.

What ever way you go just make sure its 100% what you want to do. :subaru:
