What would you swap your scooby for if you had to! (of the same value)

Hey Dan. why dont you take the fozzie back a step or 2, maybe get it back to around 400/400, Exedy stage1 clutch, standard exhaust manifold etc etc..
I dont know what the personal circumstances are, but the 2 cars you have listed mate are nice but still are High performance, and are really high cost if anything goes wrong.. maybe it would be jumping out of the pot and into the fire mate.
What about a nice 525 diesel or 530 diesel, those 530 when mapped are like 400 ftlbs or something, you have relaibility, style, luxury and good go...

I cant see you selling fozzy to handy, so i think you may have to look at taking her back down a notch man

Thats what i would/will be doing in a while.
Sort of said to myself when i can afford an 08 330 or 335d thats what i'll get. (that'll be a while though!)

I had a 120d m sport mapped, and it made just over 400ft-lbs, not NM, Ft-lbs and 218bhp on the dyno. Bought it with 32,000miles mapped it v soon after and sold it with just under 80k and never a minutes trouble.
So a 530 should be well able to make over 450.

RS4 or RS6 and M5 will just be silly running costs IMO.

Anna was in dublin this morning, and I had a quiet afternoon
So we decided to go test drive a car I'd like, and a car she'd like! Just to have options if the forester isn't to her liking when she's back on the road!
Carroll and Roche have a 3.6 Tribeca that Anna likes, but it's lots of money and wasn't available to drive!

We went and drove a '03 M5  Lads, She's some car, genuinely so very impressed with every single aspect of it!
She also liked it, easy to drive, and very very quick, Doesn't have the big kick of the Foz, but it was very civilized and sounded absolutely feckin gorgous! Anna has it in her head that we need a 7 seater (for 3 kids???) and an estate would be more practical,

So the M5 was parked beside a '05 Merc R 350 3.5 V6 sports pack, jesus it's feckin huge, respectfully quick in a straight line and great Auto box, but floaty and rolly, even with 255/50/19" wheels, very roomy and comfy. Anna Loved it, I didn't!

After all the debating (some heated) we decided that we are best off holding off and seeing how the Foz is when she's back,
The Forester is perfect for us, it just needs to be reliable and I'm sure it will be now!

hi dan , surley a practical normal engine/running cost family car would be more senseable for school runs and normal day to day running about ,with very affordable tax ,insurance ,fuel and probably with a warrenty if new enough , why would you need 450bhp to go to schools shops etc?? surely no one drives around flat out with children on board or goes drag racing around town while heading to the shops ,example 2008 corrolla for app. 13000 euro and then build a track car with more than 450bhp and you and anna could share trackdays etc ,no need for tax ,insurance, even vrt .Also by saying doing trackdays doesnt affect the reliabilty of your forester is rubbish , of course it does ,you also said that the car doesnt do big mileage on the road , so if its doesnt do much on the road or the track where is the wear happening.
To buy a old M5 to replace the forester is a no brainer , i ve owned a few M5 s old and nearly new ones these are great cars but dont kind yourself that they are faultless and arent hard to maintain or run .
Its great that your work has picked up and that you have spare money to replace your car ,and your considering paying 1500 euro road tax per year but remember all the effort that you put into the forester :xmas_cheers:

Why dont you buy another Standard Forester and leave it alone. Then your wifey has all the comfort and space with lower running costs and more reliability than the tunned car. I'm pretty sure you will have plenty of spare parts lying around from swapping out your forester which might come in useful in the event of something going on the family/everyday car.

You would pick up a standard Forester for smaller money than any of them other high priced/high taxed/etc ect cars that you mentioned

Agreed..!!!
A non-turbo one could suit even better. Less to go wrong.

i would swap for a alfa 156 gta or a lancia delta integrale evo if i could get a rhd drive one

This is turning into two seperate threads, It's cool to know what you's would have yourself if not a scooby!

From my own point of view,
Cars mean a lot to me, and I do have a bit of a thing  for pretty girls in nice cars! if you know what I mean!!
So it is so very nice to see Anna driving around in the Forester, If she drove an Avensis or something like that, It just wouldn't work for me!!
Also, I am actually am a modaholic, I can't leave anything alone, that goes for the everything, So I couldn't have a standard car outside!
I don't drink or smoke and the only time I spend money is one thursday a month when I head out with you lot,

Anyway, I'm sure the forester will be grand when she's back, and that is very much my prefered option as you say, after everything we've been through to get her to this stage! She'll be reliable and as smooth as she's going to get,
So fingers crossed, we'll not have to have that arguement over what has to replace her! Although If I had to swap, M5 is top of my list at the moment!

I do appreciate where you's are coming from, But I'm just not mature enough to settle with a normal car just yet, I may some day grow out of that, but my Dad still drives his GTO Twin turbo at 59 years of age! So maybe not!

Dan

Probably not a fair swap but an Audi A8 with some JE Design goodies ticks all my boxes.

Not mad about that front grip!
Looks a bit like an old Opel Senator,
Audi S8 is a very impressive motor though, 5.2 V10

Not into white cars but that looks great...pity they never put the 5.0 bi - turbo from the RS6 into an A8.

Very cool car. The last of the true skylines. I know the new gtr is savage but it's not really comparable. And the new skylines are just bigger looking versions of the 370z with the same non turbo motor . So I do think that the r34 gtr is going to hold her value very well
