What would you swap your scooby for if you had to! (of the same value)

there rubbish every time i drive one i cringe how they rattle etc. especially on speed bumps but have to agree i would want 1 also
there are just some cars that are rubbish and make no sense at all that i would still have
just like lots of other things in life
you have to give it a try even though on paper its the wrong move, in the heart it makes sense

If I have to stay in the same value range and IF I must swap for something else than probably a SAAB convertible.

I swapped my 02 STI for my Land Rover Defender, Do I regret it? simple answer is no BUT I was never fond of the bugeye. I still miss the power and comfort of an Impreza but I'm happy with my Defender- Honestly
Still on the look out for a V1-V2 Turbo or WRX wagon in standard form
Cheers
John

2 cars i am very fond of (but have actually never driven :dontknow:) is the Honda NSX and the Lotus Elise. I am almost sure my next car will be one or the other, with the lotus been a lot more readily available.

I am impressed with this legacy though.... big, comfortable, good power and noise when you put the foot down.

Maybe in 10 years time when the prices of an R8 or Nissan GTR have bottomed i might be able to buy one lol.

Edit: If anyone has ever owned & lived with either let me know your opinions

As a play car, I think the Elise would be a very good little car,
There lots of cool veriants with Super chargers or honda K20 engines
Really like them
Dan

Very cool car. The last of the true skylines. I know the new gtr is savage but it's not really comparable. And the new skylines are just bigger looking versions of the 370z with the same non turbo motor . So I do think that the r34 gtr is going to hold her value very well
dan

[qouteI really like the r34 gtr as well but i'd have the new one any day of the week and you really wouldnt notice not having a turbo on it

It's not the same motor, its a 3.8 twin turbo...it's develop from the QV35 from the 350z..the 370z has a QV37..but its certainly not the same motor.. their are standard cars running 700bhp...no standard rb26 can run that. I don't know what the R34 does that the R35 doesn't. The R35 is the first Genuine supercar from Japan

Pickin on you again Dan sorry!
The first Elise came with a 1.8 K Series rover, the later ones have the 1.8 from the last celica in same 2 tunes as the JDM celica, 140 bhp and 190bhp, and a supercharged one.
The latest Elise uses a 1.6 Toyota

Had a mate that owned a lotus elise.
Absolute nightmare of a car to get into and out of when your not a skinny little thing!
Im not a small lad, and seriously had issues with such a low roof and high sill when tryin to get in and out.....

have to say it was a very very well balanced car, lacked a little in power but the balance made up for it when throwing it around Knockhill

no worries dagnut.
The new skyline is not the 3.8 gtr which you refer to above.
The new skyline is a big rwd coupe with the 3.7 non turbo.

And Elises with engine conversions are very popular because slot of lads don't like the k series rover engine as lotus were not shy to say that that engine was not there first choice.
So Honda k20, exige supercharged motor and vag 1.8t are very common swaps.
I wouldn't have one with the standard motor in.

Dan

Very true you are right, but it's a skyline in everything but name, the reason the GTR moniker was chosen because Nissan had never sold the
Skyline GTR in the states they wanted the americans to think it was a completely new name.
If you look at Pauls response he thought you were referring to the GTR

Yea the Honda/Vag & Duratec are very common swaps. There are companies that will do turn key packages on them, you just pick what you want. Probably about £10k sterling for one.

I have been on SELOC for many years and to be honest the K series engine isn't all that bad, it has a problem with its HGF but that isn't even that big of a deal. Most of the engine conversions are done by the power junkies who putting 300hp engines in ultra light weight elises and end up with Power to Weight ratios of out'n'out supercars. I bet they must be incredible fun to drive :icon_biggrin:.

Indeed,
A crowd called Thor racing put 3.0L V6 engines into Toyota MRS's aswell
But I think something like a simple enough looking series 1 elise, with a Supercharged Honda K20 (like the Ariel Atom) would be savage!
