wheels from Uk

I needed 4 new tyres, 16 inch bridgestones, got quotes from local garages and then went on line. It was only €110 more to buy new 18 inch wheels & tyres from UK!!!!! Crazy!. With the exchange rate as it is it is far cheaper to buy alloys & tyres from UK. They also deliver direct to Ireland. I have just got some Inovit Concepts 18', they arrived today and were €400 cheaper than here in Ireland. Took 7 days to deliver!! I'm all for supporting Irish businesses but it is up to them to reduce their cost. Most buy the wheels from the uk themselves anyway! Also note that i got €200 off just by haggling and got postage down from £80 to £10!!!! They are desperate for sales.

This club is a non-profit club which means that paid up members will get their money back from their investment by attending events etc. during the year at discounted or subsidised prices. I can guarantee you I got more back than the 50e membership I paid last year.

So that leaves the issue of who pays for this & the running & maintenance of this website. The answer lies with our traders, the people that PAY to advertise their services on here. They are also a wealth of knowledge for all of us members, and offer member discounts.

We all know that buying stuff in the UK can be cheaper, look at the queues of people outside Sainsburys in the weeks before Christmas, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

So you say you got wheels & tyres for 400e cheaper in the UK but also point out that 300e of that saving was by haggling on price & delivery. Please also note that sterling is about 20% cheaper at the moment than 3mths ago & UK vat rates are 6.5% cheaper also.
I think I am now seeing where this 400e discount came from.

Maybe you'll try haggling with our traders next time? You never know what they might be able to do for you.

Oh and good luck if the wheels you’ve bought are faulty, I wouldn’t want to be the one repackaging & organising courier to send them back to the UK & wait until new wheels are shipped to me again.

I’ve been unfortunate enough to buy faulty goods for my car before but the comfort of being able to walk into the shop & get an immediate exchange was worth the extra couple of quid I spent.

I tried alloy wheel dealers here, even emailed 2 that didnt have the courtesy to respond!!!!!

I got a price here from a place in dublin and even after haggling they were 400 cheaper so its nothing to do with tax.

If i have a problem with them it wont cost 400 euro to send one back! I want to support business Ireland like everyone else but we are being ripped off. We will continue to be ripped off if the consumer does nothing about it. Vote with your feet and you will soon see prices here fall.

And you seem to think i'm knocking the traders on this website, i'm not, i am merely stating that the guys on here who cannot afford Irish prices have an alternative. If you are happy buying in ireland then thats your choice, i saved money knowing the risks of buying from the uk but surely thats my choice. And surely to mention on this site may help others who cannot afford them here........

Its called choice....

Its amazing what deals you can get. Well done!

Got a lovely set of 17inch low profiles(with lock nuts thrown in)

delivered for €820 last year. Priced in the shops over here at €1300!

Nothing against the traders on this site, but some of us can't afford the prices.

@STi Brian , I hear the point that you are making and I agree that people should make the effort to buy Irish but certain items are so much cheaper in the UK its not funny and it cant be ignored . I myself am in the market for 4 tyres and I have to say it looks like I will buy them from the UK as well because it will save me about €250 which to be honest shows how much markup the Irish places are putting on the tyres. I know about the price of sterling and the VAT rate but even still its hard to argue with the difference.
