My Forester was born on the 7th june 2006!
When does she have to start doing the nct??
I'm not looking forward to that at all, I'm actually getting a bit stressed!
I know I'll have to put my standard exhaust system back on, none of the 3"miltek decat bits that are on her are compatable with the standard2.5" catted down pipe, I do also have a miltek catted center section (that I nearly sold) but I don't know if she'd pass on the sports cat?
Also, My back brakes are bolted to obviously welded brackets that don't look "factory" and my front discs have always had loads of little cracks in the face of them, they have been like that since the first time they were on track in march 07, and they are AP Racing discs so surely they are safe as they are! but nct may not agree!
Also, My rear anti roll bar links snapped on track before, the standard ones are much longer than the impreza ones so they are weeker, so I "moddified" a new standard set with extra bracing welded to the side like Spec c brackets (again not factory looking)
At no point during any of her mapping sessions did I ever say "please keep the emissions down" I always just want as much power as possible, So with injectors nearly twice the size and the big feck off turbo, I suppose that probibly wont go to well either!!!
I realised yesterday (as I was playing GranTourismo) the the only standard bits let on my car are the inlet manifold and altinator!
So yeah, not looking forward to the nct!

4 years on from the date your car was first regestered Dan but you can book your 1st NCT up to 6mts early so you will effectively get 2 and half years till your due in again

as above... 4 years and over... I cant see them failing on somthing that looks "not factory".... once they work.

For example the brakes have to give a certain percentage effort or they fail... im sure the brakes you have would have no trouble on that side of things....

Its just the arkward lad you could get that might look at the face of the disk and say that they have to be changed...

put the catted downpipe back in for the emissions anyway

From what i can see mate..... the only thing your going to have any problems with will be the emmisions....

It might cause problems with the other things if it was trained monkeys putting the car through the test.... At least trained they might know what they are looking for....

However..... I NCT'd my old car earlier in the year with a :
1. cracked front break disc... (I hadnt noticed it before the test)
2. Front suspension bushions hangin outta the car
3. half hangin together exhaust
4. A dodgy front seat.... There was something broken in the subframe....

the monkey that passed it had spent ages under the car and never noticed any of it
told me the car was perfect.....

dan sports cats are allowed as far as i know, was talking to kieran in top gear before about it and think i remember him saying that sport cats are allowed.

Yeah, sports cats are basically the best of both worlds - good bit of power without killing forests!
It's that big, f@#K off beast of an engine you built in front of it that might cause a few issues :shhh:

imo you should just bring her to be tested as is...

you never know what sort of tester you'll get..or what you might fail on as the test itself can be very inconsistent

at least then you'll know what has to be done and you'll have 30 days to do it

only downside is you'll probly have to pay twice
