As the title says. Bought some 22B vents from HT Autos. Looking to get them sprayed 74F if anybody can recommend somewhere and roughly how much it will cost.

Thanks

Its easy man, I done the fog covers, grille and other bits on my type-r and worked out perfect. Done the vents on the 2.5 in 262 silver and it was spot on too.

Think i might have some 74F left too

If you have Phil. I'll give it a go myself

I think they come primed but if not I'll get primer.

Does the 74F need to be baked?

If it's a water based paint Andy... it's best too get it baked or place it under UV lamps to dry out as it takes forever to harden and can quite easily mark otherwise! I learnt the hard way!

If it's an colour matched aerosol can Andy... it can quite often be water based. 2 Pack polyurethane paints and cellulose are harder to get these days due to health and safety regs so most paints that you get mixed in motorfactors are waer based.

Stick em in hot press for a few days and it should help to cure them.

I've been told you'll never get the same result using an aerosol either, something about how the paint comes out of the nozzle :ponder: ... Its probably only a small few that would actually notice the difference though

I'll let you into a little secret since it's now sold... :shhh: but I sprayed the whole rear quarter of the MR2 with aerosols and it came out as good as from a a proper gun.... i'd be fairly fussy bout paint finishes and I swear it worked out really well as long as you prep it perfectly and spray in a dust free place.

J&S on York road in Dun Laoghaire do made to order aerosols that have a quality nozzles unlike the crap you get in Halfords etc.

You can still get the old cellulose paint in the uk, its not banned there yet........thats what my car got done in :shhh:
Waterbased is harder to work with and slower to dry.

The waterbased stuff we use in work is never as good as oil or cellulose paint.
I just wouldnt fancy it on my car.

That's what I used on MR2 Sean... and even 2 months after painting the car it was still a little soft coz I'd no use of an oven! Awful stuff... :snooty:

Does it even last as long as the old paint :ponder2:

Andy, id have no problem doing the vents with the cans, its not a big area so it wouldn't be noticed.
And even if the can is the exact colour, your bonnet could be faded anyway.

Andy my mate in Dunshaughlin will do it for you, he has that colour there as he resprayed the fog covers on my 02 Bug as they were chipped when they redone my road :icon_mad:
Cheers
John

Andy, you will probably need to give them a good sanding, primer and re sand as fibre glass copies can be a bit wobbly when painted

Thanks for all the replies lads. Sean, Jamie Ken, Robbie

JohnM, is that Elliotts Accident repair? He is the guy that resprayed the entire front for me about 2 years ago. In fact I think it was you that told me about him. Will he be bothered with 2 bonnet vents?
