where to get exhaust?

Alright people getting ready to do a few upgrades on the scooby and am just trying to find out where's the best place to get one. Was in touch with a guy on eBay said he could have a turbo back decat 3" bore and 4.5 inch tip delivered to my door for 250e but as it's not a brand name dunno if it would be any good. Any advice greatly appreciated

My ten cents worth is dnt buy off flea bay lots of cinese rubbish out there with questionable quality I got a afterburner vortex back box off scooby world very happy with look and sound of it bout 300 delevered.
A exhaust is a very personal thing on a scoob

would be more likely to buy from a well known trader and buy a well know make , for example id probably buy a miltek 3" turbo back from scoobyworld if i were to do it all again , probably 4 times the price of the ebay item but its money well spent imo

Are you looking for a full decat or cat backor just backbox? There are a huge range of suppliers out there, Miltek, Hayward and Scott, HKS, etc.

What's your budget?

Better off going with tried and trusted.

Keep an eye on for sale section here and other sites occasionally good stuff IPS up for a fraction of the price.

As per above are you looking for full system or what.
Bear in mind that car may need remapping depending on what your planning.

:smokin:

Yeah I would prefer to go the way of a known company. I don't have a massive budget but am intending on changing the whole system but I suppose I don't necessarily have to do it all the same time I can start at the back and work to the front. Just looking to accentuate the burble for a start but hp gains are my main goal

cat back would give you the burble for sure just depends on weather you go for a resonated or non resonated centre section there us a fair difference

Have a look at Jamie's section on here.... he has broken my old wagon that had a lovely sounding kakimoto cat back on it........absolutely lovely sound!!!
I'd say it wouldn't be huge money to get it off him if he still has it

For performance you should go 3 inch all the way but this means you'll need to install in one lump as the 3 inch sections wont match the standard exhaust.

Well took a look on scooby world ( man if I had the money that place would get raped) and the vortex seems to tick all the boxes my only hang up would be the burnt tip I do prefer my exhaust just to be nice and shiny all the way. Anybody know if there's an option to not have that.

con saw would remove the burnt tip :falldownlaugh:

thought there was an option on there for a standard or burnt tip

If you dnt like the burnt tip go fr the ninja
Personally I like the burnt tip

everyone is entitled to there 2 cents so heres mine. bought full 3 inch stainless from ebay for my sti. fitted ok sounds the sh*t and looks good. despite what anyone might tell you the only difference between the system i bought and a brand name system is first of all the price and second of all which is debatable, the quality. there are zero performance gains when comparing one over another. all aftermarket exhausts are bent to match the original and a straight through 3 pipe is a straight through 3 inch pipe no matter what the make. with regards to the quality come back to me in a few years and i'll tell you.

The quality of raw materials is probably one of the main reasons and then quality of workmanship is another huge factor , speaking from experience i can honestly say the quality of materials used in my miltek far exceeds the cobra de-cat pipe i bought, (and sent back ) to look at the welds even , the miltek is far tidier than the cobra ( looked like a 12 year old done it) , things are more expensive for a reason imo and you get what you pay for , not having a go at you seanie just my experience :yellowthumb:

burnt tip can be polished off, as tommy says its the quailty of the stainless is the thing, there is so many grades and all look the same , a magnet is ur best friend when it comes to stainless,
316l -wont stick
304 - just about hang on
430 - will pull from inches away, i got a down pipe on ebay looked the job was 430, was rusty in short time, looked crap

Tommy I agree with you 99 times out of a 100 that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. I asked the same question before I bought a cheap eBay system. I said I would chance it and worst case it might look nice hanging on the wall in the garage but i was surprised at how well it was made and fitted. Saying all that it could be rotted of the car in 12 months time will tell but at the moment it's doing the same job as any system 3-4 times the price.

Now you have me wonderin whether to go for the ebay one!!! Can get a full decat system for less than the price of a back box and 304 wouldn't generally rust much would it. Oh decisions decisions

I'm not advising you to buy the cheap eBay system over a reputable make, no doubt side by side there is probably a significant difference in quality as the lads have said but performance wise you will gain nothing and if money is tight it could be spent better elsewhere, turbo, remap etc.

With regard to the stainless 304 is still decent considering the original exhaust was galvanised mild steel and lasted 14 years on the car.
