Where's everyone buying there petrol these days?

The vpower that was pulled was when shell was bought out, but it was still only 95 octane. They have higher octane fuels taxed out of the market here.

I always thought that was the best stuff
why is higher octane taxed out of the market
simply just the extra purchase price

Apparently the government taxed it to the hilt so very few could afford/justify it, especially when cars come mapped for the lower grade 95. The tax rate is based on the RON rating and would make 98/99/100 octane fuel vastly more expensive than regular 95. The V-Power that was here was good, much cleaner but still 95, must be nearly 10 years ago now that its gone?

@Ciaran, it was always 95, people thought it was higher because it was 98 in the UK at the time.

Very good

Your problery right but it was deffo labeled clearly on the pumps here as 98 when it was sold so case of misleading advertising and think if remember right 8 pence per lt more expensive so bloody robbing c@# ts too

Not that it matters now

I'm using the one in ranelagh :santasmiley

brand spanking new tanks there colm , not even in 4 months so fuel should be clean coming out of there ,

@ Ciaran i remember the vpower pumps at kilmac been marked as 98 when that was a shell , doesnt mean it was 98 but they were deffo charging for it

thats mad
so ron rating = more tax
should have known :icon_hang:

seen a fifth gear video there
some difference in torque levels between fuels on the hawk there

I remember it being about 5c or 6c more than regular unleaded but it was still 95. Wouldn't be the first time station would mislabel their fuel would it (maxol E5) :falldownlaugh:

If you google 'shell v power ireland', you will see its always 95 but plenty thought it was 98 because thats what it was in the UK at the time.

And that just what the ecu can do itself, imagine the difference if it was mapped for it :icon_omg:
