which wrx is better??

selling my type-r sti at the mo and will be moving up the years,so will be getting a 02 bug eye wrx or 04 blob eye, i presume both these model wrx's are basically the same apart from the ovious facelift at the front, also what kinda power gain can you get from irish model with a remap and few small mods???
 
I reclon if you go from a type r sti to an irish wrx your going to get an all mighty kick in the arse when ya go to drive it on, i'd be looking for a bug sti at least if i were you , wrx is around 225 bhp , big drop from the type r when ya factor in the weight difference between classic and newage 2 ,
 
ya i know what you mean about the drop in power,but i drove a 05 wrx irish model yesterday and it was ok to be fair.was standard and was quick enough, also i think would be way better on feul, my type-r is very fond of the petrol stations.
 
i have a bugeye wrx with a full decat exhaust,pipercross induction kit,255lph walbro pump and ecutek remap and it makes 259.6bhp on coutures dyno ,it is a very nice car to drive for everyday use and i have been on the track with type Rs and they would not make a show of my car by any means {i will be shot down for that comment but i dont care}for a performance car on a budget you wont get better than a wrx new age imo
 
your car sounds nice wagon dec, well ive owned 3 type-r's over the years, and ya they are a great car,but ive wanted newer shape now for a while. newer shape sti's seem to be still making big money so if i get good price for my type-r i wouldnt be puting much money with it to get a nice bug or blob eye. and as you said a few small mods and remap and id still have a quick car.
 
thanks man ya cant beat a blitz :multijump:you should be able to get into a blob now man for small enough money and as ya said they are fast enough with a small bit of work id go for it
 
ya,i think i will,great deals to be had at the mo on new age wrx's, then its a trip up to nick in couture me thinks :thumbsup:
 
just saw your car in sale section,really nice.that upgrade aint cheap but seems to have made great difference to the car.
 
Just my bit. Just be aware that Bug Sti's are 265bhp from the factory while Blobs are 280/5bhp from the factory. I had a Classic years ago before my Bug and while the Classics are more edgey and raw the handling, space and build of the newage is a big improvement. Still love the Classic and would love to have both :icon_grin:
 
i thnk the engines in the new ages are abit harder too, but i could be wrong.

I guess down to how you drive it and look after it, but failure is something we all worry about,
 
i do like the sti bugs/blobs but there dosent seem to be many around,and what ones i have seen are a good bit more exspensive than the wrx's. another reason is i think the irish wrx will be better on petrol, im forever puting feul in my type-r.
 
jez i wouldnt get near that,i normally put 50-60 euro a week into mine,i do drive car every day but i live near bandon and work up in bishopstown so its not like im doing massive miles. ive never bothered to hit trip and check what its actually doing,but i know if i have heavy right foot some days the feul goes very fast, dont think irish wrx will be near as heavy!!

nice one,might take you up on that, :thumbsup:im waiting on 2 guys showing interest in my type-r, so hopefully il be looking to get new age very soon. :smile:

a blob is 265 bhp as well.. you go up to 285 for a 06 2.5 and 300bhp for 08 hatch
