SOi thought i had warped disks as i discuss in a thread a few days ago,I was taking off the wheel today to take out one of the pads and trace it so i could see what ones i needed to order.

I noticed one of thebushing was badly worn.See pictures below:

Could this be my actual vibration problem i get when braking?The pads are fine, but a slight bit of build up on the disk which i thought was causing the problem. its the same on both driver and passenger sides on the front. never checked the rear. Any idea how much to replace these?

i'd say thats ur problem dan...the wishbone would be vibrating under braking but theres probably a knock in it on rough ground... :ponder: :ponder:

might have to buy a wishbone if that bush doesnt come seperate
:thumbsup: :thumbsup:

so whats that part called exactly lower wishbone/upper wishbone?? Fingers crossed i can get the bushing on its own. need one on each side :shock:

ye true would things like that be covered under that? thought it might be classed as wear and tear?

i must check that tomorrow, i taught i had a warped disc aswell but i must be that bushing. cheers lads :thumbsup:

It passed the NCT like this about 2 weeks ago! I think the guy was too busy drooling over my car and he missed these! I bought the car from my uncle's garage but he got it off another garage , obviously they missed this when they were checking it over for me. im Sure he can sort it for me cheap enough. I was told that these were a weak point on the Legacy's and i should upgrade the bushings to Polyurethane ones, they last much longer

if you look to the left of the 1st pic, thats the bushing im talking about, the 2nd pic is the close up of that. From doing some research for most of the night, It seems like a very common issue with Legacy's with 50000 miles plus on them. Have been advised to upgrade to SuperPro polyurethane bushings. They do ones with different offsets etc that increase caster but im not sure how that would affect the handling. Regular spec replacement polyurethane bushings don't seem to be available anymore, well i haven't found them yet!

quote from their site:

This bushing set replaces the large rubber bushing where the front lower control arm attaches to the body of your Legacy. The stock bushings are very soft rubber, and you may find that yours are badly torn even after normal everyday use.

The replacement parts are stiff polyurethane, which makes steering and turn-in response sharper and increases steering feedback.

In addition, we stock an offset version of this kit that adds static caster. Static caster has the benefit of increasing camber in corners, thereby increasing cornering grip.

stcok those very parts give them a buzz you might save a few ???'s

Niall.

so original bushings can be gotten for about 35 euro from C+R, the uprated polyurethane ones can be gotten from SuperPro in the UK for about 130 delivered. Are the poly ones worth the extra cash? Anyone have any experience with them?

* Better road holding
* More responsive steering
* Longer service life of suspension components
* Constant straight line steering geometry
* Increased tyre life
