this was on rallyforums this eve guys i have just copyed it to here, rusty

I was perusing the RSA website (sad I know....) and I see that the Road Safety Authority have launched a public consultation on vehicle modifications

As part of its efforts to improve the standard and roadworthiness of Irish vehicles, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has launched a
public consultation on Vehicle Modifications

(PDF).
The RSA wishes to hear from all vehicle owners, road users, interest groups and members of the public who may have views, advice or suggestions on how to ensure that any modification carried out to a vehicle is fit for purpose, roadworthy, environmentally acceptable and safe. It is entirely possible that all vehicle modifications could be made illegal, including the conversion of vehicles into rally cars. I'd urge all to have a read and answer the questions at the end of the document.

Good post rustysrally :thumbsup:

It's only a matter of time before we have to start declaring mods
and no doubt , will have to pay more :angry1:

Dose anyone here declare their mods to their insurance company and if
so what is the response like ??? did your insurance shoot up ??

NIall.

i declared my coilovers to Quinn the other year, added €100 to the policy, needless to say they were "taken off" the following year

anything will bump it up, i payed something nuts like €50 for front tints (now gone thanks to the Garda)

even brakes will put it up even though it means your less likely to crash :dontknow:

god help us if it end up like Switzerland, where anything thats not a factory option is illegal

About the declaration of mods, a while ago when I was a young lad I put my Renault 21 turbo the short route through a roundabout, not that the insurance company knew that, but when they sent out a guy to assess the car he said I was wasting my time,I had exhaust,turbo,wheels changed...they didn't pay a penny. Two years ago my other half put her Clio in a ditch on icy roads,ripped the subframe out of it a write off, but we had a body kit on it,had it lowered with big wheels and few other bits again because the mods were not declared they refused to pay a penny. My advice make bloody sure they will pay you because the insurance company is legally obliged to pay the third party but not you the policy holder. The bas###ds. :angry1: :angry1:
