Young Bucks

When I was a young buck I loved fast cars. AlI I wanted was a good fast cool looking car. Started with Nova's sr's and sri's, then to 205gti's, mini's, starlet gt's and Celica's etc etc. All my mates had various hot hatches at the time. Nothing spectacular but fast and cool IMO. Now bare in mind I'm only 32 so it's not that long ago. So when did every young lad decide that the 'cool' cars of the times are bloody lowered passats, bora's, and the likes. What the hell is wrong with this younger generation. They constantly feel the need to drive up me arse in there smoke machines and bloody terrible sounding dump valves. Wrecked my head. Is it just me?

Your an aul geezer now Patrick lol. :angry1: I suppose its all they can insure as they often pay more than the cars value for bog basic insurance. :funnypost:

I think its down to the fact that all the cars you mentioned above dont come easy these days.
Alot of the young lads nowadays have familys which wasnt realy the case 12/13 years ago plus as eoin said imagine an 18 year old trying to get a qoute for say a 205gti as a daily driver.

I went through that phase myself when first started driving bought 2 mint nearly new fiats and wrecked them big alloys(everybody had venoms)straight through exhausts loads of stickers bla bla bla
Seat toledo big torra alloys lowered to bits chipped and drove to sh*t but never up peoples holes or anything like that.

Then got my first scooby (95 legacy gt) all changed after that only mod was alloys on my gtb (second scooby)
just realised i didnt need all the other stuff once i felt the power.

Iv been driving the m50 for the last 2 years and have to say dont come across to many knobs in modded boras etc its the wankers in the suits driving there mercs and bmw who think they own the fecking road up my hole then i move they go by then slow down and stay in front for ages.

Stick any lad in a 150 bhp german motor for 2k and there sure to get carried away.

Name 6 cool cars made in the last 10/15 that would be cool for a 18/20 "year old now hell name 1. We're we spoiled RS turbo , Cossie ,twincam , delta integrale , 205 /309 gti swift gti pulsar gti and the list goes on and on good cheap fun cars are not there anymore that they could get insured on .
As for driving Up lads arses there will always be clowns :jack:

They don't have the cool cars we had
But they have a heap of fast jap stuff that wasn't available when we where younger
Some yolks with plenty of poke :dontknow:

@ Patrick you just grew up I'm better times
But I'm sure every generation says the same about the next

Jesus lads havnt thought of some of those cars in years.

I remember my mates charade gtti it was a rocket we were hooligans in it.
Some others between mates and family

Escort cossie uncle payed 18k insurance :shock2:
Montego gti
Maestro gti fooking quick
Bro had a gte astra till scum burned it outside his house couldnt find the kill switch.
Colt cyborg
Xr2i bullet of a car
Opel manta
Volvo 850 T5(nearly bought one till i learned about Scoobys)

Im sure il think of some more.

Imagine letting an 18 year old in one of those these days would be carnage.

Be nice to see some pics of the above motors il leave that till colm and ciaran :icon_lol:

I remember a robbed black one going around crumlin for a few weeks around 1998 and it was taken chases everyday not one garda car ever got near it the mad thing was they knew who was driving it but because they never got a chance to see him in it they couldnt do anything he was picked up everyday and released.
Rear sight these days :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

I guess we just grew up in better times. I remember working 3 jobs just to pay for my insurance. It was 1500 pounds at the time. 3 times the price of my 1st car. A friends dad had a green t5 estate and it's was unreal. Still looks good to me. Although admittedly I fancied the arse off her so she could have pulled up in a Lada and I would have still done her!

Well im 21, and guilty atm of driving a german diesal. But on route back into a scooby i hope.
I agree and dont understand the point of spending so much on "doing up" passats and boras. Im working as a mechanic since 16(finally qualified) and have always loved the classic hot hatches. A few cars iv had to date, to prove theres still some of us out there
Renault 19 16v hatch, bought off my boss who had the williams tuned one.
Xsara vts
306gti
Mk2 golf 8v and 16v
Mk3 golf 16v
Went jap then;
S14 silvia turbo
Bugeye impreza
GS300 lexus

And a few daily diesals inbetween ???? only for the trade policy, id say id have not had half of them.

Thats only the cars worth talking about really, theres a e39 530d and few other cars and bikes in there lol.
Thankfully only the mk2 gti went to the scraper, lesson was learnt that day.
