Lots of reasons really ciaran

The obvious been ,
Vrt
Tax
Easier mot
But they do have a good road network, alot bigger amount of people per area than ireland is probably the biggest one though, over 60 million in the uk towards only 5 million in the republic

Other little things help aswell like multi car insurance which is cheaper. Then you have alot of race circuit's over there too to make it accessible to people, f1 every year and a round of the wrc and btcc, goodwood etc, bigger pond over there

It's mostly to do with cost imo..
That Civic will appeal to the same type person in Ireland as in the U.K. But it wil cost what 15-20k more here to buy ffs..

Is it something like 32k Sterling for a new STI in Uk, probably 60-70k here... and 2k year tax...
I know I would certainly consider one at 32k Sterling and 300 year tax, but not at our prices.
And we won't even bring the extortionate insurance into it.

I think loads of people here at into interesting cars but getting them is the problem and that's down to vrt/tax insurance
Take Paddy's rs what's the tax here in comparison to the UK.....half the country would like a Impreza or an rs but it's just not viable.......government Robbin b@starts.

agree thats mostly the issue. but here are lots of of new 5 series, a5s etc on the road too so plenty of people paying 40 or 50 k for cars. many may be company cars but not all. there's not much variety- i think that the pount i was trying to make.

I agree but if you were a high end dealer in the UK looking to come to Ireland to sell porkers would you consider it....
As Ken said civic is 15/20 K more here so I can't see the exotic car brands coming as could only imagine the extra cost (vrt) on say a Lamborghini.
It's a bigger pond in the UK but I'd say we are on par or over par with our car nuts in Ireland per head.
