2018 civic type r

Not all juice in states is muck

Can't rember the differences exactly but think 91 same as our 95 there 93 is premium same as 98 here that we don't get now

Also Bio Ethnol available is certain places and great for making good power.

But yea Honda just playing it safe with tune eaisly sorted with map

Sure my filler cap says 98 on it been years since that's been here

Remap for how many octanes

When remapping your car, one of the first and most important things to look for is what fuel quality will you
need to use afterwards. How much it will cost and how easily it will be available around your area and the
places you go to.

How is fuel quality measured

Gasoline quality is measured experimentally in laboratories, using different tests.

The more knock-resistant it is, the higher its rating. That means, the less likely it is for this type of fuel
to self-ignite in the combustion chamber before the spark plug fires.

Self-ignition causes performance and reliability problems because it produces abnormal load
to the engine. Self ignition is also called knocking.

Isooctane, which is a typical component of gasoline with excellent anti-knock properties, has a rating of 100
and is the reference to the whole octane quality scale..

Depending on the test that is done to control fuel quality, we get

Research Octane Number (RON)
Motor Octane Number (MON)

Because two different tests define RON and MON, with MON testing done under more difficult conditions,
MON number is always lower than RON.

Europe vs the States

In Europe, gas stations describe different types of gasoline based on their RON rating.
It is typical to have 100, 99, 98, 97 or 95 RON with prices varying accordingly.
In the States the descriptions look a lot like RON, but they are not.

Pump gas

In the United States gas stations describe the types of gasoline based on the
Pump Octane Number (PON). That number is the average between RON and MON.
As you can imagine, this causes many problems.

If a fuel is 98 RON then it will be 93 PON
If a fuel is 95 RON and 87 MON then it will be 91 PON.

Is American fuel quality bad after all?

No, not at all. Contrary to popular belief, fuel quality in the States is as good as anywhere else in Europe.
Most Americans think that because they are running 91 octane fuel, their engine will blow up if
they use European remaps for 95oct fuel. That is far from true.

In our website you will find RON ratings required for each remap stage.
98/100 RON means you will need to use 93 PON in the States.

95 RON means you will need to use 91 PON in the States.

Everywhere else in the world, 98 RON and 95 RON gasoline usually are fit.
Anything lower then that and your modern engine will have a lot of trouble
adjusting, even on the stock map.

Ethanol addons

There are a few countries around the globe that are using Ethanol in their fuels. One of them is Brazil,
where by law all fuels need to have at least 20% Ethanol. This usually does not have an impact on power,
but it does bring slightly higher fuel consumption.
As long as the fuel type gets a 95RON or 98RON rating, it is suitable for use in the car and with our remaps.

I drove the peasant version of this today, 1 litre turbo! 120bhp
Surprisingly potent giving its size, loads of tech as standard inside and one of the most satisfying gearchanges I've had in a while. The front looks cool the rear not so much. It also comes in 1.5 turbo 182bhp
