hi all just need some info i bought a car from a dealer and paid gud money 4 it and only have the car a month and got a 3 month warrenty engine and gearbox as part ov it now i've had a few probs since ie engine is on its way out knocking sound think its droplinks and water leaking into passenger side ov car, ok when talkin 2 him he said tat he was not puttin much money into fixin the car and i'd like a gud job done as was sold a car which he said was mint wit no probs wud i be wrong in askin 4 a refund or just take a cheap job from him any help wud be great

have the problem investigated properly to find out exactly what is what and what is involved to put it right and take it from there...

Dont even waste your time with him, you have just said engine is on its way out.. get a garage report and get to your Soliciter straight away, dont let time drip on by, act straight away. If engine is on its way out you should be entitled to a refund, thats what i would want, wudnt want it fixed by them if thats there attitude

well i've already said bout a refund and he said he did't see tat happenin but he must no tat i can get a refund, ask a few people and they said if he says no refund then get my soliciter on 2 him, i'd have 2 get a mechanic 2 come 2 my house as car can't move wud tat work 4 a report?

dont frive the car thats for sure
you might have to send it somewhere on a truck to get a engineers report
but you would want to talk to your solicitor
the first thing i would say he will do is contact the garage in writing
if i where you id go straight to my solicitor
also the consumerassociation i would say would gee you FREE advice first

Am I getting old ? as I'm struggling to read this TEXT speak lark!! :1poke:

No offense intended johnooo , unlucky situation your in there , fookin cowboy car dealers :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

your fine man just its doing my head in he's put it 2 me that he does't have the cash 2 give me back and now he's offering me a car 4 a grand plus a grand cash but i'd still be out by a 1000 euro im sooooo lost bout this legal stuff

if he sold you a lemon and you're still in warranty you're entitled to a full refund I would think

Sure give the Citizens Advice Bureau a buzz, doesn't sound like he has a leg to stand on, Goods were sold not fit for purpose.

Don't except anything less than a full refund. :naughty:

As mentioned... get a solicitors letter sent to him.

Hope you get sorted... and without too much heartache.

Do you want to name the dealer, so we'd know to avoid the place?
I had some trouble with my dealer before as well. Sucks balls :angry1:

If he is a dealer, then even if that engine went after 3 months he would be legally in trouble. Seen as do he has offered 1k less, i think if you mention soliciter he will fold.

My approach would be to contact him and tell him you want a full refund. Tell him he has untill x date to do so, after that you will be letting your soliciter take over the matter and will be looking full refund + costs and expenses+ loss of earnings etc etc...
Or you could just frighten the shite out of him and just get soliciter to write to him straight away. Soliciters letter will be best 100 euro you ever spent.

How long have you the car?

sounds like a shoe string operation and as mentioned above the place could fold up shop under the pressure of legal action. depends on what you paid for the car, if it was say 20k and you were getting 19k back i'd take the money and run and call him a cumt on the way out the door. take worst case how much would it cost to leave the car rite? more than a grand? legal action costs a bit so if it comes to it the small claims court may be an option. best of luck I hope you get sorted. p.s. name and shame

Is the dealer simi registered?
Would you be happier with full refund or a newly built engine from the company of your choice?

he could be chancing his arm sayin he doesn't have the cash
I wouldn't settle for anything less than 100% refund!
He knows he hasn't a leg to stand on or he wouldn't have offered you even a partial refund!!!!

Dont make the mistake i did i got pissed off with all the lies and bull i was getting of the dealer when i bought mine after a few months of me ringing, going to the garage and leaving my car there for weeks at a time i ended up just going and paying to fix it myself at a cost of nearly 4000 over a year and a half was nearly off the road all that time i bought it with 87000 kms on it and it has 111000 on it now that tells you how little i got to drive it at the start and i have it 4.5 years i felt very intimidated as there was always a group of dodgy lads there who had nothing to do with the garage it was a naas road garage so was my own fault as i didnt do any research on them.
Fight it all the way man i will never get screwed like that again.
Hope all turns out ok for you.

Billy
