Concept Impreza

I think it looks ok but there's nothing very "concept" about it's external design. If this is what Subaru's designers think is cutting edge there is no hope for the company other than Toyota to take a controlling stake and run the company properly and start making Subaru's people actually want to buy and can afford. This will mean low emission DI engines with smaller low inertia turbos and stop-start tech and extensive use of aluminium to keep weight down. Also and dare I be the first to say it, Subaru should introduce front wheel drive with the Revo Knuckle type suspension as an option to reduce average emissions across the marque which will allow it to continue producing high power AWD STI's. Subaru need to make cars the market actually want and that means seriously cleaning up their engines. No one wants or can afford high road tax and lousy mpg any more. If Audi and porsche can do it so can Subaru under Toyota's green guidance.

But does the Legacy not more than enough cater for the family car needs... The Impreza as we used to know it, i think is going to be a distant memory.. That concept could easily be badged as a Legacy, it looks more like one than an Impreza..
What sector do you guys see the Impreza fighting in if not an out right sports car??... they are not in Avensis or Corrolla category, nor are they in A4 or 3 and 5 series category.. so just where do they fall if they are no longer to be an out and out sports car?

looks like a poxy old mans volvo

cant see that winning any rallies, subaru are going all soft and wont win any fans with that

Every Subaru on the market today is lighter than any of the equivalent Audis..they already use Aluminium and have been for over 10 years. The Current Impreza STI is only 50kgs heavier than the Focus RS despite the AWD system. Direct Injection and lower emissions are a must no doubt.
I like this concept and I actually like the new saloon, no the best looking but much nicer than the hatch

If they fitted selectable AWD would surely help emmisions? New ground up engine design on the way also, still a boxer though

realistically Ken, Yes!!! But we are all going to have to accept that Subaru are leaving their roots behind and changing their image!
Unfortunately the same way Nissan kinda went, and Toyota!
Look at all mass produced car manufacturers now and it's clear that all performance based cars are all but gone, yes we still have a higherpowered model of some but the performance based (rally bread) cars are all gone! They all moved into a new Market for the commuter who wants more economy more comfort and more driver aids!!!!
The driving by the seat of your pants days are gone!!!!
If you want to look at the M3 for example, yes it has 400+ bhp but it has how many settings to get all the power? Now try to put all that power out and traction control will restrict it!! Turn it off (pressing button once) and actually all you have done is tame it a little it's still on!!!!
All car manufacturers are going the same way!!!!

time to move on if thats the direction they are goin, rather a second hand M3 ....

At least the hatchback haters may change they're focus
