E5 Maxol.

I'd have thought he would have told you it was 95, he can tell emidiatly, he knew straight away mine was E5 when I asked

What delta dash read out did it make?

That would probably explain my Alcatek ecu playing funny recently... It has a knock control so it's probably pulling the timing and going limp mode. It looks like the octane booster time again? :ponder2:

I don't know how to attach the chart that Bob sent me, but it says 300bhp 275lb torque and E5, so maybe I need to send him a mail to
ensure it was E5.

yeah i just had a quick chat with Joe Power there and he has noticed that the Maxol stuff has gone to shite over the last few months alright, he says it was never anywhere near 99, probably 96.5-97 at most. So i think its safe to assume its 95. All fuel now in ireland has 5% ethanol due to the eu directive, but if you do the maths he said to get unleaded up to 99 you have to had more than 20% ethanol to get there. Might be worthwhile investing in a knock link lads if you are worried or get a tweak map to 95 from your mapper

i just emailed bob there for his 2 cents

i have a Knocklink... showing a small amount of det under load on the "new" Maxol stuff

never used to see a peep out of it when it was mapped first off to E5

hmmm that is a little low for a usually over estimating Delta Dash, mine showed 331 on the DD so you MAY be ok GSR :ponder2: :ponder2:

im full sure mine was done to E5, i could tell IMMEDIATELY when Maxol had new shyte in the tanks, aside from the flashing KL it was like going back to an un-mapped car

What Mods did you have done goosie ??, all I had done was pfr7b plugs, K&n panel filter
And Hrc fuel pump, exhaust and cat were standard.
10 seconds after Bob had Mapped my car, we noticed that my front passenger tyre was punctured, I wonder if this had anything to do with the figures achieved from my car. ??
Alan

same as yourself Alan except i have a 3 port solenoid, and maybe my Nur Spec is a smidge more free flowing

those figures are to be taken with a pinch of salt normally but seen as you also have a delta dash readout too, its fairly accurate to compare the two

a puncture could deffo hinder the readout though haha

I was only going to Maxol since I got the car since I was told it was mapped for E5 but recently since this uncertainty about fuels I decided to fill up from now on with normal petrol from other main forecourt and to be honest I have not noticed the slightest bit of difference - if anything I have more power than I did a few months ago but that's just because I fixed a problem with leak in fuel lines... also I have DashCommand running all the time while driving, which is plugged into ECU, and when I do a launch sometimes to see what power is there it still records max BHP/torque at the 400bhp/400lb-ft area. would like a knock sensor to see but they're a bit expensive for all they do.

There is a knock detector app there in the google play store for android and its free
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nosoftskills.kd&hl=en
once you have the wireless dongle that will connect to your car (usaually about 15 - 20 euro )
then you should be sorted
I have a cable here i might try it with the laptop

From about app features...

"More features are coming soon. Used every day on my heavily modified Subaru STI ! Drive safe and have fun !"

Ha ha - get the app author in the club!

Also here's a hilarious thread about knocklinks (cocklinks as someone calls them)
Seriously what is it about car forums and bitching and fighting :icon_biggrin:

http://bbs.scoobynet.com/general-technical-10/512314-knock-link.html

im not sure if this specific one is any good or compatible with your car
maybe someone else can post if they have bought one already that is suitable
but something similar to this for newage cars http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Android-Torque-Car-Mini-ELM327-OBD2-OBDII-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Interface-CAN-BUS-/181124903208?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2a2be2b128
check trough ebay and whoever you buy off maybe send a message to first asking if it is compatibale with your car
classics run the cable with the same wiring as a vagcom
i plug one off them in to mine its not wireless but ill give it a go on my laptop tomorrow with this app and see how it goes

Maxol is shite altogether now. I used to get 500-520 km out of Maxol and a bottle of Millers CVL Turbo when it was apparently E5. Been back filling at Texaco and my last two tanks I've gotten 589km and 600km. No change in driving. Just changed the petrol.

Maxol E5 wasn't about the economy at all. It's all about keeping our engines safe mate.

I'm not getting any knock from Texaco. I had to switch because the car was boggy and hesitant on Maxols 95. For a 95 alone, Texaco is a better quality than Maxols.

If Tesco start putting Ethanol in their petrol would you switch to Tesco? Tesco fuel is pure dirt!
