Strange. Did you notice any changes in the cars performance? Hesitation etc....

no chance at all in the performance of the car ,it only happened when the engine would of been under pressure....like in high gears boosting full.....just a quick blink ,i know if something is wrong that light would come on and stay on but iv never seen an engine checklight flash like that the odd time

yea its mapped for irish fuel by Martin Treacy .maybe my knock sensor......has anyone any info on the knock reading on the Apexi Power FC commander? i dont understand it :dontknow:

If the knock shows in around 13-16 your ok but if it goes over that I think you have a problem.

I had this happen on the unit I had in a car I had and it turn out to be a fail in the apexi ECU. I put the original ECU back in and the car is still running perfect at that on E5 with booster.

Definitely Knock. What knock figure are you getting and what is your injector duty percentage on the Power FC?

i drove it there now and got my bro to watch the injector duty ,the max it hit was 83.3% ...........i just have to figure out how to get a knock reading off the commander because the knock is just showing with a line of bars

I've mine set up the same way. It flashes when excessive knock occurs.

Go to your hand commander and set it up to monitor knock. Just need to follow menu's. Back up until you get to a menu that says "monitor" & "setup". Select knock in monitor.

It's just your light is connected to your knock sensor.

stupid question but do you remember what revs you were at when the light came on?

i was at about 5000rpm ,the last time i drove it i was in 3rd gear fully boosting (1.3 bar) at about 5000rpm when i seen it flash ,the checklight blinked twice at me for no more than 2/3seconds at a time........maybe im just paranoid but wanted to be sure..........il drive it again and see what the highest knock reading i get is on the commander!

Yep as Yogi said it's definitly KNOCK

So as soon as you see the Check engine light flashing get your foot off the accelerator :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:,
As for what level of KNOCK is acceptable ............. good question, it all depends on who maps the car :dontknow: :dontknow:

Some say never over 20, others say 15, others 40 ................AndyF reckons about 40 is perfect for a road car and he run's
his track & Drag cars a lot higher .

So ...............why is your car now suffering from knock ????

There's loads of possible reason's anything from dirty plug's , a Faulty MAF / O2 sensor , dirty fuel,
The map may need a little tweek ,

When was the car mapped and when was your last service ???

This is the most important bit....!!!! And do it fast....

As some know, I just picked up my 95 WRX impreza. It has 140k km on it, Supposed to have a TD06 Turbo, Downpipe with Decat, And cat back system. I have had that light come on a few times, not blinking but constant. Couple of times under low boost and others just from tipping around. She has the standard ecu and when the light is on it feels no different at all, or maybe a little pop out of the exhaust. I was told by the previous owner when he had it on the rolling road that it would be caused from the lamda sensor in the new downpipe, would this sound right or should i be worried?

Hello Terry,
One of your sensors may be frigged!
I would book it in to have a diagnostics test done asap and I would start saving for a mappable ECU, like Simtek, Solaris, Apexi etc.
With the current mods I'd say the standard ECU is freaking out! With the bigger turbo and free flowing exhaust the engine will behave totally different to what the standard ECU is expecting. With a properly recalibrated ECU you will be able to take advantage of the mods done and make rakes more power safely.
All expensive, but has to be done if you want to make power safely.

You can check the trouble codes yourself by following this guide:

That's just my opinion anyway, for proper advise get in contact with the site traders

I see code 22 and 31 there I think.

So you are correct, Knock Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor
