why the wall bash this is a good thing, especially this time of year when road conditions are not the best, it might make some people think about their speed

i cant speak for dec regarding wall bash.but some of the locations i have seen speed cameras make me cynical that it must be a money grabbing exercise at least some of the time.no doubt the privatisation will make me more cynical.

im going to be passing through at least 5 of those bits highlighted in red every time i go to Sligo which is every second weekend then the same coming back :wall:

Is there something good on the market at the moment as in, an in car warning of an upcoming "safety van?"

Hiya Lads,,,Ive seen alot of these speed cameras in the last week,,,its a company in Kerry that got awarded the contract so all the new speed camera vans have a 10 KY reg,,,so far this week I have seen 4 vans ,,,these have been as follows,,a red 10 ky transit parked out side the Devonish Hotel just outside Rathkeale,,I think,,its a 60kmh zone i have also seen a white 10ky renault master van outside caslteblaney in a 100kmh zone it was onside of the road on the way up and the other side on the way back so getting the traffic both ways,,i have also seen a white 10 ky iveco daily van once again just outside adare co limerick,,these vans all seem to have a pop up roof hatch and one window in the back is tinted and the other is clear,,,there is 45 of these van im told moving around 600 different locations 7 days a week,,,dont forget the garda have 5-6 of there own vans but these are all white dublin reg tranists,,,

looks like everyone has to be on there best behaviour,,,im thinking we could start a post and everyone note the type of van they see along with the colour and location,,,give everyone a daily heads up..

cheers lads,, ps i travel the 32 counties every week so i reckon i may rack up the points quickly but will also spot a fair few on my travels ...

2 days ago seen a transit parked outside the mint in dundrum
drove bye it and having seen it, and was under the 30km limit on that straight road :cuckoo:
after passing it with my middle finger held up i looked at the opposite side of the road to see a unmarked vectra with 2 lads laughing at my kind remarks
as i said earlier shooting fish in a barell
id be the fist person as most on this site for road safety
but i have yet in all my years of driving
have ever seen a speed camera etc. in a place where it was appropriate

If they want to make revenue and promote road safety
Put these fucking things outside schools where all the soccer mums and the likes fly around like they own the roads!
I pulled a young child out of the way of a landrover doing almost 80 in a 50 the other day! The kid walked out the school gate seen mummy across the road and startedrunning!!!
If I hadn't been there that was another statistic!!!!
The national roads don't need cameras!!!

I have written numerous letters to the guards hq and to the government in relation to this!
School children need protected and drivers in school areas who speed need punnished!!!!!!

Alot of us on here are parents!!!!! I'm sure you would agree withwhat I have said and the reasons I have said it!!

Ah now, here lads, cop yourselves on a bit... Don't you know its way more dangerous doing 102kmph on the M50 in a 100kmph zone than it is doing 102kmph outside a school in a 30kmph zone. Thats why we MUST concentrate all of our efforts on motorways, and national dual carriageways.. :icon_rolleyes: .. These lunatics on the motorways are causing chaos..

It made me sick the other day listening to the radio when the garda advert came on saying that these camera's would be targeting the most dangerous areas, then all you see is them targetting fish in a barrel on some of the safest roads in the country :angry1: :angry1:

The only good thing about this is that guards now have more time on their hands to tackle real crime.

Thats alright Neil, you just need to think more like a politician.. Do whatever benefits the coffers or your own pockets and don't worry about the little things like protecting children..

just took a look around my local area and fail to see the point of motoring the roads highlighted ,

like they have targeted the main street of arklow instesd of the arklow bypass , which is like boy racer/civic central all night long ,
who comes up with these ideas at all

In fairness they have been giving out details for the last week or more and have been very visable around Dublin all week.Could have just been testing ky vans. Will be interesting to see if anyone gets done at above locations.Would be difficult to prove as think fine/points come from garda.
