help needed on buying first subaru

Nothing really just put a Blitz dump valve on it had the STI exausts STI Strut brace Blistein Suspension(Factory) and pro drive forged wheels on it when I got it.Just drove it and serviced it every 5k after that. Its my first turbo Subaru too and all I ever wanted was a exaust and a dumpvalve so thats it!

if he can give u an nct garuntee and warranty then id say 10750-11000 would be a good price. consider my da paid 12950 for an 01 impreza wrx sti. the b5 is good value for money and a joy to drive plus cheapish to run. still get a mechanic to take a look at it for u or if u are keen on the japcars one give dave from stitunnin and get him to have a look at it for u hes the one of the top subaru tuners in the country and hes a sound lad.hes based in dunshauglin but he does be up in dublin a bit. he would be a little bit more expensive than ur normal mechanic but u cant beat him for subaru knowledge. be worth giving him a call 0857715343.

ive bought this legacy, left a deposit yesterday paying the rest on tuesday. The pictures dont do it justice. the only downside which i guess it isnt a downside is everytime you start it you need to write in a code for the alarm. The alarm is cool, its a clifford and has anti hijack but i dont want to have to write in a code everytime i start it that will be a pain in the hole if i hop out for petrol or turn off the engine and i need to write a code in just to start it back up. Anyone know how to switch this off or anything like that? ill ask for more details on what model alarm it is on tuesday and if they have the paperwork/instructions for it but i dont know if they do.

ill put up some new pics next week sometime of the car when ive got it :subaru:

code is there for a reason i wouldn't disarm it once you get the hang of it it becomes secound nature have it on mine

As above dont disarm it, it might just be set up wrong, as it should be possible to start the car
drive away and then enter the code, the alarm will prompt you when to enter it.
congrats on the new motor lad

you cant turn it off, it is an annoyance at the start but 2nd nature after a week or so. Welcome to the Legacy gang!

So which one did you end up buying?

Do not disable your Black Jax system. Its there for a reason. I also have it and would not be without it. Believe me putting the code in will become second nature and you wont even have to think about it.

thanks lads, i bought this one http://www.carzone.ie/search/Subaru/Legacy/b5-2.0-t/200908191913368/advert?channel=CARS

the car only has 27000 miles, its not been mapped, it was a garda who owned it previously, he seemed to know a lot about the car, he said it has been serviced by some rally subaru specialist and yer man knows the car inside out im going to meet him a few days after and get any info on the car.

he said to me that instead of mapping he got some additive to put in the fuel and it keeps it as close to jap spec as possible. I dont know if this is true or an excuse cause its not done?? you lads know more than me, i cant afford a map now even if it does need one, this has broke me im barely going to be able to keep it full with petrol for a while. Any advice on keeping the car running sweet n smooth?? the car is standard apart from 4 pot brakes. Not going to mod it much, want to get the wheels sprayed gloss black and get a blow off valve in the next month or two, then may get an exhaust system and one or two more perfomance modifications when means allow.

Collecting it tommorow and giving him the balance of the cash, i cant wait :beerbang:

well done on the buy man sweet mint looking car :subaru: he prob uses an octane booster to reach higher octane than the crap petrol we get in this country. if u are near a maxol they have e5 fuel which makes import cars run great wit no need for octane booster. i think greenapple petrol station have started to use this aswell. the pump will be marked unleaded with a small e5 which is a small bit of ethanol mixed wit regular fuel ups the octane. i notice a huge difference when i fill up wit e5 in the impreza compared to normal petrol. i can speak for most of the lads on her that e5 rocks :icon_headbang: as for mapping i owned a b4 for about 4 years never had it mapped and there wasnt a prob but it is recommended if you are going to drive her hard if not u should be ok

nice 1  there is a maxol and a green apple within 5 minutes distance from my gaff so i pay em both a visit and see. I will be driving the car hard 30% of the time id say. i was a taxi driver before now and even in me auto mondeo i had the boot down all the time haha. I plan to keep this car for a good few years too so i plan to take good care of it and leave the ragging for certain times. first few days i plan to drive the bollox off it anyway to see what she can do, fastest car i had before this was a civic vti so im sure ill have a big smile on my face. might take her for a drive to the n4 and see what its made of. What do they top out at 150?

the b4 rsk toped out at 157mph i think thats delimited dont no bout the BH5 id say be over the 150mph. yeah the N4 is quality to see wat your car can do and thats the point of buying fast cars to put a smile on ur face everytime you drive them. unlucky for me the impreza has a lambda sensor down or a plug down cause on a 40litre full tank me and my da bearly manage to get 100-120miles out of it so its economical driving until we get her sorted hopefully ina few weeks then we will be upto 190-230miles to the tank which will be great. you got the best of both worlds fast and kinda economical

far play! are you around Dublin? We could have a legacy meet if you want and show it off! I would use Lucas or NF booster, you can get it off some of the traders here, use that With Maxol E5 and she should run fine. I would try get a full service done on it as soon as you can afford it, oil, plugs, air filter, oil filter, coolant etc

And it will top out at 180kmh if she is still have the limiter in it!
