well basically i have held onto a 98 type-r v limited for a while now and i just passed my full license about a month ago and im gonna try to get insurance on it next year. Im gonna be 22 with 2 years no claims and 1 years full license when i consider getting the insurance. im wondering if there is anyone here around the same age as me and knows what kinda quotes i could expect.

cheers

bring plenty of vaseline cause they will :mooner: at 22 mate , i had enough troble insuring an sti at 27 years old with 9 going on 10 years ncb ,

Pwaaaaaaar thatll be a struggle!! I'm 23 5 years licence and 3 years (this will be my 4th) NCB and get laughed off the phone on an Impreza

If you find anywhere PLEASE let me know!

The only young fellas I know with Imprezas are registered as 1.6's on the log book

had an idea that this was gonna be the case i really dont wanna have to sell the car because i cant get insured on it for another 3 years or so...

I would expect not to get any quotes. I'd say the only way you'll get a quote is to insurance a little dumper of the car, transfer it over to the sti a few weeks later and just take whatever they give you :icon_sad:

Yep thats your best bet, have insurance and transfer it to the STi. You probably wont get a quote but if you just ring and transfer it might work out for ya.

Infact I met a guy recently with a type r, 29 he was with 8 years NCB and it took 17 insurers till he found one that would touch him

Hate to be a nay sayer but I think you'll be asking the impossible,

There is a legal route you can go down, that is that if you get refused in 4 places the 5th I think HAS to insure you, but they can pick a figure out the air,and you could be looking at many many thousands of euros

I tried the transfer thing, but they will just refuse! I even lied and said I had bought the car and it was outside and they still refused point blank

quinn tried that with me but i had actually bought the car , got a pri*k that refused to cover it and then hung up on me when i asked to speak to a supervisor , so i rang back ready to go balistic at them but all that happened was "that'll be an extra 30 euro a month Mr Kavanagh and the cover is effictive immediately " gotta fight your corner

anybody even know what sort of price im looking at is it like upwards 3k? because anything above 2500 is just a joke.

its a lottery mate , id imagine no one will quote you so you would be as well to insure something elae then transfer over and hope for the best , if ya got tpft for 2.5k you'll be doing extremely well

Agreed!

Unless you have a parent/ older brother etc that could insure it in their name, you pay for it, then you buy a really old knacker car and insure that, then in theory you can drive the Preza on the thrid party extension from your nacker car policy!

That's what iv been thinking about doing

if you cant afford to properly insure an impreza you wont be able to run it right , its all well and good having a disk on the screen but if it isnt properly insured and you have a smash where will you be then ,

i can run it, its just i cant justify handing over 3000 to some robbing insurance company... oh yeah i also found out you have to be 25+ for open driving insurance.

Well I can defiantly afford to run mine, but I have no intention of using the insurance if I crashed, say on my own into a tree or something, I need my NCB for when I finally can get a faster car

Iv only got my insurance to be legal
