you buying it from a garage or private? i wouldnt buy from a dealer without at least a 3 month warranty. could die 2 days after u buy it

Very hard for any garage to give a warranty on imports. As if ran on 95 and drivin hard and high revs and she melts a piston its not really the garages fault as it was down to ecu andd fueling. Thats why most won't give warranties. Which imo is fair enough. Maybe ask for a 3 month warranty excluding the engine and they may be more willing. At least you'll have some comeback if problems in other areas.

buyin it from a garage dan. will i not get a load of sh*t off the garda if u drive it for eight weeks without an nct?

if your buying from a garage push them for a guarantee of some sort
in the present climate of poor car sales now is the time to use such things to your advantage
also get a guarantee that it will pass nct etc and take into account the poor petrol we have here
you might want to look into getting her mapped cracking looking car though best of luck with her

Sorry, i didn't mean full warranty, most places i went to when looking for my Legacy said they would give a 3month warranty on the car excluding the turbo, which seemed fair enough and would garantee it to pass the NCT. I would try get those at least, buyesr market these days!1

nct shouldnt be a problem as long as its taxed and insured
iv been stopped at 2 checkpoints in the mrs fiesta with nct out over a year and they just checked tax and insurance

thanks for all the advice and info lads  but they dont seem to be budging on the guarentee. ive tried. cause shes jap they are very reluctant. hopefully she will be as good as i think she is! ps anyone sell tires cheap on here??

is it not compulsary to get a minimum 3 month warranty with any new/used car purchased from a dealer?? Turbo's excluded, i got a 3 month engine/gearbox warranty offered without even asking for it..

I thought that was the case Rob. Always thought, no matter what they say you have come back for 3 months unless it was private. Maybe not.

ya that is the case, You have a definate 3month warrenty legally, even if they don't offer it too you, its all too do with the sale of goods and supply of services act.  i believe FRAWLS is the man in the know and will let you know for sure but if you want too find out for yourself and call the citizens information. There a great help and only for the price of a call.

Make sure you have it properly looked over before you buy it. Espically since you'll have no comeback if something goes wrong next week. If I were you I'd have a look through the for sale section here before buying. Majority of the cars for sale here have been owned by genuine subaru enthusiasts and would have been well looked after, some may also have been ramapped saving you in the long run.

Whatever ya do there's loads of advise on here and lots of helpful people who can steer you in the right direction should you have any questions.

Best of luck
Alan

I got 6 months engine and gearbox on my B4

Check the one thats for sale in the for sale section. It to is gold. You'll get no warranty with it either but it is mapped I think and the owner is a member here.

Well worth a look before you buy something that hasn't been NCT'd for over a year for whart ever reason.
