you will have to pardon my ignorance, but could somone give us some background on this chap. im relativly new to the site and im not sure if he was a member or not. the skerries races was mentioned and im local to the area, was this chap a local too? a brief account of his racing acheivments might be appropriate on this thread for those of us that did not know him, and again my condolences.
fastest irishman ever around the isle of man..he's from lusk..think he was around 27..brilliant racer..crowd pleaser..and by all accounts a nice guy but I didnt know him personally
Martin was an great road racer, both he and his family are from Lusk. He is the fastest Irishman ever around the isle of man in the TT race. Martin was just married late last year and has a young child. I have known his brother, Peter, since i was a kid in cubs and scouts. Peter joined up here on behalf of Lusk Motor Group a couple of weeks ago. The Finnegan family are known quite well around the area, not just because Martin was a great racer but also because they are some of the nicest people you could ever meet and would always do they're best to help you out with anything if they could. Its a tragic shame that someone so young and talented could be taken in the prime of his life.

R.I.P. Martin.
cant believe he's gone...irelands most talented rider.
used to love seeing the flag on his helmet...and that MV Augusta
Apparently he was brought home from belfast by soo many bikes it was reported to be 10 miles long at stages.
Gutted
Well lads, the funeral was held in Lusk on Wednesday, there were about 4,000 people in attendance and RTE, TV3 and BBC covered it. It was an awesome sight and a fitting tribute to a great man and a great rider, may he rest in peace
