Petrolheads
Folks I spoke with a chap from Maxol yesterday and he told me that from 1st July this year E5 is in all Maxol petrol stations can any body confirm this many thanks John L.

From 1st of July E5 was rolled out in every station around ireland!

But very careful because....

Maxol has the true octane of 99

All other station are still 95 just with the ethanol added

This was comfirmed today by my local garage!!

so be careful everyone if you see E5 in any station other than Maxol!

Even the little Maxol in Delgany has e5 Jamie , the old guy that runs the place was telling me all about it one day

Yeah I know the garage... just never bought fuel there... they used to never take Laser... so used to go elsewhere! :icon_rolleyes:

Is it the same price Tommy as regular unleaded though?

well believe it or not pattersons in delgany was probably cheapest e5 for along way at the begining of the year there ,

but i notice the Maxol and esso in gorey are always the same price even though the stuff in esso is regular 95 , and e5 in maxol ,

in general the maxol garages are largely in line with all the others i find anyway , its not like when Shell were sellin super unleaded in kilmac a few years ago @1.30 a litre and 95 was @€1.05

Hello Lads,

In General, E5 would have normally cost about 1-2cent more than "regular-95" pump fuel

With the days we are in now, I find E5 is the same price as "normal", pump fuel from other fuel suppliers

Therefore if you can find E5, you should fill up on it

Cheers,

Michael

I thought E5 was in all stations too and was buyin petrol in my local station. Went for a re map after fittin new turbo and was asked if I was using 95. Checked maxol web site and my local station isnt on the list of E5 stations. So just be aware, Its not E5 in all maxol stations. My local station is Roscommon town by the way.

I thought e5 was exclusive to Maxol, and that they dont sell any other petrol, that there standard issue petrol is now E5

i noticed that after a refurb at where we tank up they changed a badge on the hose from e5 to unleaded. Thought that e5 phased out the 95 ron one

Went to Longford today to get E5. Longford it the nearest stockest to me that is listed on the Maxol website. They have the pump with E5 sticker!

Swords to Wexford town on Texaco 95....half a tank used

Filled up in Wexford at a Maxol with E5 printed on the pumps...

Wexford Town to Swords.....1/3 of a tank.

My car is mapped for 95 but always get more mpg with E5.

That has nothing to do with octane rating but

It would be handy to know if all stations are definately stocking E5 now. Heading to Cork on Friday for the weekend and don't fancy having to bring the couple of jerry cans like we usually do!!

the ones on Carr's hill and in Carrigaline have it

My local Maxol in Sallins village had E5 posters out on the road, even though they did not have it in the pumps!
I had it out with the owner, he said that, their are Maxol Garages, and maxol franchised garages, the franchised ones don't have to buy their fuel from maxol,
So often just buy from the cheapest source, so often not 99ron E5

Great to know it's much more widely available now!
And as most people's mobiles can access the web on the move, if we find ourselves in unfimiliar territory, we can log on to Maxol and check that specific garage before filling up!
I would not trust stickers or clueless staff!
Dan
