Lads my NCT is on the 8th And the poll speaks for itself.
I'll be changing the center section and back box anyway but the downpipe is a real pain in the ass to change.

on who you goo tobrian my wagon has a 4 branch hkss manifold and 3 bolt up piped s/s.
custom spilt3 iinche screamer decat down pipe.
cat back 3 inche 3n bolt jap style exhaust and has afully legit nct.after everything went an. so it al depends on who you go to. :subaru: :thumbsup:

Id take the dowm pipe off unless you have a centre section with a proper sports CAT or the likes.
 
I'd agree with what was said above. Leave it as is. Throw it through and see how it gets on. If it fails, it fails. You'll know what to change then.

That's what I'll be doing when mine's due. The retest does not cost much.

If it's really loud bring a video camera with you so you can look back at it and laugh at all the windows rattling and the NCT guys freaking out...

Mixture of laziness and wanting to see the testers face when revving to check the emmissions :D
I'll dose her with shite to try reduce emmissions anyway
 
i have my own thing up for nct at the end of this month, gonna put the original back on myself,could'nt face the thought of going back to them twice if it failed first time.
 
Would they fail ya for a small crack on the tail light??
There's no bits missin and its not taking in water :dunno:
 
have mine on the 9th of this month too in naas, any idea's where it is and how to get to it comin into naas from maynooth?
 
When you are comming out of Sallins turn right at roundabout (millennium????) and go through 5/6 more when you get to main road aldi in front of you take 3rd exit heading for newbridge.At next roundabout take first exit into ind est ,think its the first right after security hut last building on rhs

I put my 98 forester turbo through nct with Decat downpipe on with the standard center and back box and she failed emissions!
So Unless your appointment is last think at night and the tester just wants to get home, you'll fail emissions!
But sure leave the decat on for the time being anyway!

Failed miserably on emmissions. Was WAY too high.
Tester reckoned even with the cat on that they would still be too high.
what else could be wrong, maybe spark plugs or a dodgy injector??
 
Is she otherwise standard??
Just fit your cat back in and throw some injector cleaner in, and give her a good roasting on the way to the nct center, Because they work best when very hot!!!

I had injector cleaner in her today and i went up and down a dual carriageway twice as hard as i could go and still no good :ponder:
Do ya reckon the cat would make the difference??

And it's the cat that needs to be hot! That's why they put them so close to the turbo!! you needn't bother putting cleaner in to her next time!
It would be worth doing a bit of research into Maxol E5 and E85 regarding c02 emmisions!
Ie. I know that they are greener because you are burning fuel that was just recently produced so It has only recently consumed c02 (during growing) only to be released back into the air when burnt in your car! Instead of pure petrol which is a fossel fuel that consumed c02 millions of years ago only to be burnt and releasing new c02 to the air! hence global warming!!
But I dont know if the actual fuel emmits less c02 when burnt and hence reduse your emmisions! so It could be worth throwing €5-10 worth of E85 in to a full tank of E5!
I'm sure your motor wont mind being run on 102 octain mixture for one tank full!
I'm not saying this would defo work, but surely it's worth googling and see what you come up with!

I wish people would stop qouting this bullsh!t..cos thats what it is..the hard facts are

"total human greenhouse gas contributions
add up to about 0.28% of the greenhouse effect."

not even a half a percent!!! humans are not warming the planet by emmissions..its scaremongering to save energy costs....
