hey there guys i hope everyone is doing great, wanted to thank you all for the great effort in the forum and i would love to gain experience from you guys in regards of maintaining my wrx.


i recently posted earlier that i suspect a exhuast leak but i can not pinpoint it. there was a large drop in power but i did not know the source of it until i changed my airfilter which was restricting air (alot) and noticed a diffrence after changing it however, there is still a slight drop and i have not found the time yet to take it to the mechanics. Mileage is about 123000 km and last tbelt was in on 75k i ordered in a gates performance package and i noticed that the tmic hosing is in very bad shape (taped and w*****) so i ordered a set of houses i was thinking of changing the gear oil as well as the front diff and rear diff fluid. there appears to be an unregistered small knock on idle very faint you would barely even see it when the hood is open and you are watching the engine work (vibration wise as a knock can be easily seen on a boxer) and i t only appears after the engine is hot after a run ? i would lile to hear your opinouns and would you reccomend c & roche for carrying out that service work
 
The tmic hose has factory taping on it


An air filter could not slove your issues. Nor an old one be restricting enough to notice.


An exhaust leak is easy diagnose.

And vibration may indicate a cylinder issue


As discussed before.


We done a "leak down" test on this vehicle and it showed a leak.

Arriving on 3 cylinders by roughness.
 
Seems odd all the same regarding the pipe its self
sounds like someone destroyed the pipe when refitting unless a little mouse ate it ?
 
the factory tape wouldn't damage the pipe
at a guess
it was damaged when somebody refitted the inter cooler or jokingly a rodent ate it
 
I didnt see the op post anywhere the the tmic y pipe was damaged in any way. I see wrote it was taped.

We obviously would not have to go near this pipework for leakdown test.

Regards 2 posts re rodents i am a little lost.


Re what a y pipe looks from factory as your unsure from your replies.

It has factory tape around it

This chaps intercooler y pipe at time of inspection was not ripped or an issue.

And in a super way. No signs of any rodents or feeces.

rodents and eating car parts are quiet common and its also a joke ?????
you tube is full of videos on the topic if your arsed checking surprised you didn't get that but i suppose its quiet late as it isnt like you to be lost :icon_grin:

Yes you have read op wrong.

Why are we still taking about rodents and intercooler y pipes.

Rodents can of course cause issues with laid it cars. This car is not laid up.


Re "arsed" to check youtube rodent videos.

Youtube does not make you a know it all. Actual experience and time does that.


You say "arsed" like it somehow implies that if we dont youtube 9 hours a day we are somehow lazy.

You have made a late call and inexperience going to your head.

The op's car has issues internally. For months.

Nothing got to do with rodents

Pretty sad day for an ISDC member if one cant speak.


In fact its you attacking myself with a statement like that.
