Forget about 1st gear-I only ever use it to get rolling as its badly matched to the boost. Floor it from low revs in 2nd and get boost readings. Should be itro .8 and 1.1

what boost guage is in the car?
could be that your boosting perfect now but the guage is slightly inaccurate!!!

how does the car feel? does it feel like is struggeling or holding back at full boost?
 
The boost guage is only in the car couple of weeks i fitted it when fitting the inlet turbo pipe that goes under the manifold and fitted a oil temp guage too. i cant see it been faulty the make of them is Auto Gauge.

The car pulls good till about 4k then like ye say vod, i never had this before maybe because the exhaust valve was stuck closed would that be why i never had any drop or very little??.... then pulls good til 0.9 ish maybe 1.0 sometimes.

before i put the new exhaust valve in ( Up pipe ) the car only boosted at 6k ie exhaust valve not closing. but i would get 1.1 bar then drop to 1.0 or 0.9.

its seems to be boosting at 0.7 primary and 0.9ish secondary
 
VOD is perfectly normal-its a pain but we all have to deal with it. Both your primary and secondary are a little low. Have you fitted the new solenoid box? If so-try your old one again if you still have it. Also make sure the restrictor pill I pointed out to you on my car is where it should be. Do you have an aftermarket dump valve fitted?
 
Havent got my original solenoid box, i have no after market dump valve, what line was that in again i forget?

was down in galway today was goin to give you a bell but i had the kids with me, anyway on the way home i stopped in the ferry inn for a few pints of the black stuff :) .

i got the girlfriend to drive home on the way back i could here a strange noise it would do it when she was accelerating in 5th gear at about 2k revs, not sure how to describe it on that i thought the big end was goin :icon_omg: . when i got home i drove it up and down my road i even give it full boost but couldn here a thing.

i reved it up to 4k or 5k and let it drop down no noise so is it safe to say its not the big end, after the hassle gettin this car running right it would be terrible luck especially as i had an impreza sti just before xmas and the big end went after 3 days :angry1:. could i be that unfortunate again.

how can ya really tell how good the bearing is ???
 
You cant really tell. Cold start is prob best indicator of engine wear. Any knocking sound from cold? I think I saw you today in Galway...99 MH??? Car sounded healthy to me-was behind you in the taxi. You need to check the restrictor pills. I have a solenoid box here you can try along with few other bits like dps and another standard dump valve if you get a chance to run down again some day.
 
Yeah i started it this morning not a whisper i dunno what the noise was or if it only comes in when under pressure, hardly a clutch plate, or primary turbo, i dunno there is a fella in the nct office with one i remember him telling me he was in france he pulled in to get fuel and when he started back on the road the was a loud clanking metal sound but it went away couple of mile down the road very starnge....

oh yeah that would of been me mate was in salt hill for a look ha, does it sound well :)

i may drop down to ya again .
 
to be honest mate its only doing it in 5th i think when at around 2k rpm when under load, im thinking a spring in the clutch as the clutch slipped last week but it doesnt seem to be slipping now its a strange noise.
