Oh no another post on E5

Just thought id bring this topic up again as ive come to my own conclusion/opinion on E5.
I had my car mapped for 95RON + Half a bottle of Lucas back in last september/october.
Shortly after that E5 was released to many Maxol garages. I didnt get a chance to try it for a while as there was no garages near me.
The next job i moved onto was up in Drogheda which has a Maxol that sells E5, so i started filling up there all the time saving me using my stock of Octane booster.
At ther time the car seemed to run very smoothly on Either 95+booster or E5 on its own so i opted for E5 and had run the car on that since around November untill the last week when the Drogheda job finished.
So out came the Lucas and back to the Statoil down the road from me. The first half of the tank was routine shopping driving etc so a light right foot was used.
Then to my surprise about the half tank mark, and a bit more stick from the right foot, the car came alive with an eager pull of torque from right down the rev range that i forgot was there. Some more testing proved much more power was seemingly available than with the E5 fuel and also a smoother throttle.
Anybody else notice this? :subaru:

wouldnt the car run much better on the fuel it was remaped for?....... like in your case yours was maped for 95ron+lucas booster' so it wont respond as well to just E5 juce on its own :ponder:

My car hasnt been remaped yet!! Iv just been using 95ron + millers oct booster and it was running great!!.."But lately im using E5+oct booster and i can ''REALY'' feel a big diffrince in response and Power!!...I cant wait to see how she goes when it gets maped

That will put you nicely over the 100 octane mark. Getting close to Jap fuel

yea it sure does ...........i couldnt belive the differance after a few Kms the torque and responce is Savage :subaru:

currently im using e5 plus octane booster and i can see a noticeable differance than say statoil plus octane booster. should have asked this earlier but how much should you use......i usually put a full bottle in with every full tank which is about 65 euros worth and i go trough about a full tank every week. and on the subject of octane booster its wise to shop around...........two bottles of lucas cost me 44 euro the other day, i nearly fell over .....cause i was stuck i had to pay but it usually only cost me about 30 euro for two bottles.

on a version 5 ecu then believe its in your head..........

NF mate if spending 44euros on 2 bottles.........

NF is best you can get ar e7 a tank.......

using half a bottle of lucas gets you 2 RON and using a third of a bottle of NF gives you 2 RON
As said before the car is setup to run on a certain fuel then any chance in fuel will result in your cars ecu retarding ignition and sapping power!

€44 for 2 bottles of NF = 6 doses!
That's about €7 a dose that gets you about 25 bhp when mapped!

was kinda awkward at the time and was in a rush.......usually get it off the lads in artane autos but was close to swords motor factors on a delivery so popped in cause i knew i wasnt goin to be near artane. the lad had my card swipped before i knew the total and there was a que so i said feic it anyway. might get a case of one of the traders but could be gettin the car maped soon anywho ye live and learn

@ north dublin - Two Bottles of Lucas should only be 25.00 euro.

@ Matt - Alot of people are starting to see E5 isent what its suppose to be, from what I hear Andy Forrest is the latest that dident think much of it after mapping a car on it.

@ Dan - Andy Forrest said 95 ron plus half a bottle of Lucas is virtually V Power level.

if you were just usin e5 would ya tink it be ok or should ya throw a bottle of octane booster into it aswell, which octane yous tink is best????????

yeah renno thats about right....usually 30 euro for two so about 15 euro a bottle and thats with a bit of discount, ill be onto ye in the near future about a case of it. im eager to try the nf that ppl are talkin about havent seen it in any of the motor factors but ive seen stuff called nos in a few differant botles, but never tried it .

I will be having my evo tme mapped on thursday and I will be running 95 and booster.
E5 is just not consistant enough.

Im talking about e5 not the different types of boosters :)

I better think twice before i put a post up like this again. Causing arguments.
Anyhow, an extra 6 or 7 euro a tank for your booster is well worth it when it makes your car run sweetly
