p1 vs 22b

this question has been asked before about the difference between the type r and 22b.

with you two lads having had both(pete and john) any chance you could do a write up as a comparison?
Why not, a good excuse for a good lash

I had an impreza wrx 1998 and loved the look of the two door car the P1 was out of my league price wise so the v5typer was the way to go for me. The night I got it I drove home from dublin to galway stopped in xtravision to get a video for the kids came out to find the car had been keyed down both sides with a wavy scrape I was gutted. But the Ballina rally was on the next day so my buddy in a 00 wrx was going and by the time we got to ballina it was obvious this car was a different animal to the standard wrx. The gear box was my only issue great for back roads but ran out of steam early on for major roads, the same applies to the 22b, also both are hard on the road if i had to pick i would say the 22b is hardest of the two.I used the v5r for road closed in the galway internation and summer rally for a few years and it really could go all day long the breaks needed the better pads and i was running 18" wheels which may not have been ideal. Both cars are of a level and to be honest the 22b styling and scary scary scary clutch are the biggest difference between two.Hardly a technical blast but hopefully gives an idea of the two.

be more than happy to do a write up , anyone want to volunteer a type r and a 22b

john has a 22b

all we need is a type r

but would it not be easier to go to petes and see his type r next to his 22b and go from there

Arent those Alcons usually fooked off them because of the price of the pads? Maybe i am mistaking but werent they 500 quid or something stupid??
And just wondering how the suspension was better than the v5/v6 on STI inverted struts?
Well I suppose if you can afford a P1 in the first place you wouldn't be too concerned with the price of brake pads. Pagid, Ferodo and Mintex make pads for Alcons anyway so they are totally affordable.

Prodrive had access to every available suspension part in the STI catalogue and tried every conceivable combination of springs, struts, bushings and damper rates until they came up with the optimal combination for UK roads. I have never been in any car with better handling which rides so well. Because custom made parts like the rear spoiler and front splitter were made in such small volumes economies of scale could not be reached making these one off parts very expensive. The rear spoiler cost in the region of 2k alone! No other Subaru got such unanimous praise from the motoring press and the fact that it has held its value better than everything outside the 22B is tetstment to its enduring desirability. Enough to tempt you back?
It will be on my shortlist along with the Focus RS 340 GGR and TTS. Hey did you rent the TT RS in the end? If so what was it like?

My wife's first cousin was a director of P1 the car club. She still has contacts in the business if you're thinking of something along those lines but I think min membership is around the 10k mark per annum! I am lining up a drive in an M6 convertible (friend of friend's car). If that comes off I'll be delighted. V10 with the roof down yes please!

P1 might be a bit out of my league. This one looks good

http://www.clubgt.co.uk/

Looks good value but most of their scheduled items can be booked directly without any need for club membership. Not sure what you're getting for your £50 :dontknow: I like the look of the 996 Porsche 911 Turbo experience but £199 is a lot for 25 minutes behind the wheel.

the 50 quid gets lowers the insurance excess and gives you access to track days and advanced driving courses,

Why dont you join the SIDC. They have track days as does EVO on their EVOacctive track days.
