my own engine suffers from what i believe to be piston slap, noisey taping when started cold,
i just leave the car running for about 10-15 mins before driving then take it easy for a few mins
not boosting untill oil is warmed up noise is gone at this stage, hope this helps

thanks scooby i start it every morning at 6.30am and leave the house at 6.45 so its nice and hot the knocking is gone after a min or 2 i thought it was the big end my head was wrecked at least im not alone on this thanks for the advice bro

no bother mate i recently treated myself to an upgrade for my clifford alarm,
remote start it makes the cold mornings a little easier push of a button and then a tostie car
for the drive to work
