is there such a thing as a well minded diesel car that has be serviced as it should with less that 100000 miles on the clock . good second hand diesel cars are not out there .
thought i had found a lovely very clean 2011 a4 avant with 60.000klm on the clock so off i went on a 2 hour drive to see in a garge . to say i was dissapointed would be an understatment . first glance the car looked good few small marks nothing major but after having a good look around it between the ware on the seats and steering wheel and nearly a 6-8mm lip on the rear discs there was more like 160000 if not more on it . and when i said it to him he told me they were very soft discs and that was the mileage was i intrested or not :angry1: :angry1:
i think i'll be sticking with what i have unless it sells and i'll head to uk to find a car :facepalm or a forester sti .

Ya can relate to that. Very hard to get a good second hand diesel with a full service history plus people telling you over the phone how"mint" they are only to go an see them and they a heap. I ended up getting one across the border with full history from main dealer. As keadeen said Id rather get one with a bit higher milage if it was serviced right

Don't know if you'd be interested joe but my dad has a 2011 focus saloon which he was planning on trading in against a new one shortly. It has 45,000km's on it from new, he's the only owner. He was offered €14,500 on a trade in for it on Thursday.

The only thing with it is that it was hit by a runaway shopping trolley before Christmas and has a dent in the drivers door with the paint damaged. My dad was quoted about €300 to fix it by the main dealer.

I'm not sure if he would sell it for privately but if it was something that might interest you, I could ask him.

cheers rob but its not a car i'm looking for  going to have to be an estate of some sort probley just wait till i have my car back on the road and put the wagon up on done deal and the likes and see how it goes

Joe, I think you need to look to the uk, do a bit of homework on VRT and that, sell your car privately (it's a must)

Find your car in the uk or a few similar ones in the same sort of area, ensure if it's from a garage/dealer that the bloody thing is taxed as they WONT let you out of the forecourt without tax...

Drive her up the road and be on the boat home the same evening, you will need herself or a bud with you to drive you round to each car, so you can drive the new one home or go look at the next.

There is plenty of shite in the uk too so be wary, the brother bought a lemon a few years ago gave him loads of problems, I bought there too but have had no problems.

As with every second hand car you are sort of facing the unknown, I would be a bit of a VAG head meself the later models are all potentially great, again be wary of the underpowered cars (90/100 odd brake) and the cursed 1.6 diesel engine. Ford/ Volvo and a few others use the Peugeot engine which pushes out about 105bhp. This engine wouldn't pull your foreskin straight, best stick to the 2litre TDI CDTI or 1.8 TDCI in my opinion.

Anyway best of luck with the search, hope ye find what your looking for...
