I would buy a sub 1.6 petrol car.
Cheaper to fix if anything goes wrong. smaller engine with less tax,insurance etc.. Can save a few hundred on tax and insurance alone compare to a cheap diesel.

If the petrol goes up to €2 the diesel will go with it.

Any halfway decent subaru is completely out of my budget but picked this up yesterday which should see me through till after the wedding
