SERIOUS PROBLEMS.....

That's a seriously cheap car. I sold my WRX SL MY 03 this time last year for 23,000 with 78,000 miles on the clock and I thought I was giving her away.

I dont live too far form that garage and they always have Subaru's for sale there. I think its best to stick with main dealers or guys selling on the site whose car's are know to other members who can vouch for them.

I agree with Lisagh that not all car dealers are crooks but you'd be foolish not to be wary when buying a second hand car from the side of the road. I'm glad this worked out for Brian in the end. Hopefully no one else will be caught with this car. This is just another example why this club is so important.

Ashling rang a well known, main Subaru Dealer to get advice on what to do over car last thursday. she was going to book it in for a diagnostics, she was advised to talk to the guy that was over the subaru service dept who has years of experience in Subaru. When she described what was wrong it told her to get rid of it, then asked her where she bought it and as soon as she mentioned the garage, He told her she wasn't the first person to come to him with a car from there and to get it back up to them as soon as she could and to forget about it! :ponder: Very good advice in my opinion

Ashling was wondering that too, there's got to be somewhere you could make a complaint? :ponder: :dunno:
I just wonder will they offer a warranty to the next victim.
It's probably cleaned up & filled back up with oil........pumes of white smoke out the exhaust might be a giveaway though :ponder:

They had a nice looking bug eye sti in blue and one in white seem to have a few there.

agree with ye there lads, hopefully if some1 is looking to buy one, they might come on here for advice

its off our hands now anyways,
they had her almera for a few days and they 'valetted' it. she got it done herself b4 xmas so it was spotless going up, now the seats look like they have baby powder rubbed into them. big white stains all over them...... and get this they charged her €150 for the 'valet'.....
.....so yes they are well and truly cowboys :shoot: :shoot: :wall:

Now that is a disgrace.
They obviously take no pride in their work. Garages like that should be named and shamed although it wouldnt be fair if a good business was wrongly named in such a situation.
They need investigating thats for sure :eek:mg:

I cant believe how the story of this car is turning out. Its a disgace.

Is there some company that inspects cars and you can buy a warrenty from them?
As far as I know! regarding checking turbo, remove hoses either side of turbo and feel around for oil in the pipes, and get a hold of the shaft and check if they is any play!
Other than that give her a good roasting and keep an eye out for smoke while doing so and also at tickover!!
Dan

AA will do an independant inspection on the car, it's not cheap but worth it. I got them to do it on my first car and I think it was worth it.

Dont ever be bullied gy a dealer telling you there is no warranty on a performance car.. slap a solicter letter on his fookn lap and watch them squirm,
i know of a main rover dealer that sold a shitty 2nd hand rover to a guy, after about 9mths he came back into garage saying that it had failed the nct on a head light which the reflective back ground had came off and a few bushings. the garage booked it in, got the bits and fitted all the parts, the car was ready and guy came into pick it up and the service manager handed him the bill and he refused to pay it, took the car and went, about a week later garage received a soliciters letter stating that if they persued him for the money they would take the garage to court, as it is the garages responsibility when they sell a car that it will pass the likes of an nct a reonable lenght of time after sale and that 9mnts would be considered a resonable time.. so that will just show you how far there responsibility goes

But does that apply to Rovers - surely the Rover garage could appeal on the grounds that their cars are a heap of dirt & can only be expected to last for 9mths from new?
